My third novel, HERO COME HOME, officially has a cover! Preorderable from the usual places us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
The cover of my third novel, HERO COME HOME. Four human figures centred, the main image being that of a bearded man looking back over his shoulder (that's Oro, the protagonist), with a circle of symbols behind him. We can see a swan and a key. In the foreground are three people: two women, one with a mysterious marking? scar? who knows!? on her cheek and the other carrying a sword, flanking an older, balding man holding up a pistol. The possibly-scarred woman looks ever so slightly amused, and that is certainly very like her. Everybody else is not happy to be here, or indeed, anywhere

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a woman pushing a shopping cart into a grocery store. In the baby seat of the shopping cart is an unusual orange creature with a trunk and antennae. The security guard standing in the doorway says, “ma’am, you can’t bring that in here.” Panel 2: the woman turns around and gestures at the creature. She says, “come on… he’s not hurting anyone.” Panel 3: the security guard points matter-of-factly at a sign on the wall behind him. The sign reads in bold red letters, “NO SHNOOBS. NO EXCEPTIONS.” It features a picture of an identical orange creature, the humble shnoob.

Firstly, I love the title of this poem Secondly, followers know I love a sonnet. This subverts the traditional sonnet, written to a single lover, to a lament to the many – and though forgotten the emotional imprint of their kisses remain ‘the rain is full of ghosts tonight’ #poetry #poemoftheday

How Burnham is going to try and balance proposals for a National Care Service, while supporting Mahmood's immigration policies is going to...interesting, and by "interesting" I mean fundamentally unworkable. It just cannot work with the hostile immigration policies being pushed.

I love when a recipe says “prep time: 10 minutes.” Ten minutes for WHO? A professional chef with eight hands? It takes me ten minutes to find the paprika. Then another five staring into the fridge hoping the ingredient I forgot to buy will spontaneously appear out of shame.

T'Lyn (from Lower Decks) stands with her hands behind her back. She stands in front of an inspirational poster depicting the moon and a person reaching toward it. On the poster is the quote, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." Attributes to Norman Vincent Peale. In the bottom right corner of the image is T'Lyn's caption: "Logically, if one lands among the stars when aiming for the moon then they have severely overshot. Possibly even broken the Warp 10 barrier."

Review of my latest reading: Get Ahead of Being Dead, by Evie King ( @christinamartin.bsky.social )
Get Ahead of Being Dead
by Evie King

As if the work of living’s not enough,
Evie tells us death is just as rough.
No one wants to face a lifeless hoarder!
Time to get your worldly files in order!
There's lots in here on how you want to die,
And better yet, to live, and notify
Those left behind of your affairs and will,
Your exploits, headstone (“Told you I was ill!”);
On coffins, eulogies and organ banks:
For pre-death admin those bereft give thanks.
Options, services, suggestions, links:
There's more to dying than one living thinks!
All this with cases notes, moving, funny,
Evie makes what could be gloomy sunny.

Two panel comic. Panel 1: a bat hangs upside-down from a telephone line at sunset. The bat is in front of a billboard advertising the Florida Mega Jackpot, which is valued at $5,318,008 - represented with a digital ticker. Panel 2: the POV flips to the bat’s upside-down perspective, which makes the digital numbers look like they spell “BOOBIES”. The bat appears delighted.
