The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples

I only talk about this now in order to assure people that if they only realized what happened to them much later, that doesn't change the reality of what happened. Sometimes not recognizing an assault as an assault is a trauma response. Our brains don't let us reckon with it.

I was assaulted by an acquaintance in exactly the fashion Trump bragged about in the Access Hollywood tape, and it took me *years* to recognize it as an assault and not a "weird encounter" or "bizarre interaction." My greatest regret is that I told no one, I wonder who else he may have hurt.

Here's Backpack as a yearling in 2007, unable to put weight on the injured paw. Holly took her cub & moved upriver, away from aggressive bears who might harm him at Brooks Falls. Fishing was harder for the pair, and she risked both of them struggling or starving, but he was SAFE.
Backpack in 2007, nursing an injured paw that is turned under, so that he can't put any weight on it. If you're wondering why they didn't provide vet care, it's their policy not to interfere when an injury is natural and not caused by human activity.

I think this photo is by David Kopshever, National Park Service? It's on a blog linked below.

Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.
From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (
