Discomfort is an essential part of growth and wouldn’t it be so embarrassing to be the exact same person thirty years from now, in a totally different world, because you were so averse to discomfort?

Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue

Increasing my discomfort tolerance has also been one of the greatest assets to improving my mental health.

Honestly kind of a hard call. There's a lot of *good* movies that came out that year, but nothing that's my *favorite*. 2014 was a good but not *great* year. Like... John Wick Interstellar Gone Girl Whiplash Guardians of the Galaxy It Follows Big Hero 6 Winter Soldier Birdman Inherent Vice

People are desperate for tangible things that can’t be taken away by greedy billionaires. CDs are cheaper and more portable than vinyl, and a greater portion of the money spent goes to musicians compared to the pennies provided by Spotify and Apple Music.

what a mess, don’t use TailTag lol

TL;DR
TailTag is a vibecoded mess of an app and accompanying backend.
Everything you have ever uploaded to TailTag, regardless of your public/private visibility, is publicly accessible in full.
A bad actor could, in theory
- Send push notifications to anyone, at any time, as much as they want, with whatever text they want, with delivery receipts.
- See every photo you have ever uploaded, all text you have ever written, any connection you have ever made, any achievements you have ever been granted. Literally any bit of PII data (besides your password).
- Receive live updates for any data on the app, essentially allowing them to see all happenings in full and in real time.
- Map social circles and view catch images which may reveal a suiter and/or player's location.

A hi-res image of two prototype GBAs, both silver but one with teal buttons, bumpers, and dpad, and the other teal/blue. Both are shown horizontally from the front, one above/below the other.

I have been saying this for twenty years: To be good at an art-form you must also understand what exists beyond that art-form or you are doomed to do what has already been done but worse for better only happens when you bring yourself and what you see uniquely to the work.

Know that libraries count things. How many people have cards, how many times a book or DVD or CD is checked out, etc. And then we take those numbers to our internal staff and say "look, people want this" to justify purchases, and then to local govts to say "look, we need to stay open".

I keep seeing people thinking this is a bluesky problem. If you're seeing this it thinks you're in a state or country with age verification laws. This is what every social media site will do if KOSA and the KIDS Act succeeds. Running to another socmed won't fix it, we have to fight the source.
