The poorest fifth of pensioners being better off than the poorest fifth of workers is just absolutely mad. The impoverished pensioner stereotype is shite. Working people frankly cannot keep carrying this.

The "massive weekly grocery haul" is a symptom of car-dependent sprawl, not a universal rule of life. Healthy cities don't force you to drive to a warehouse store. Good design makes grabbing fresh food a quick, passive part of your daily walk or bike commute. These straw men arguments bore me.

Virtually every time I try to cross busy main road, this happens. Far more dangerous & less accessible than a bus stop with a cycle track, & happening everywhere. Yet no moral panic & media hysteria.
Car stopped on crossing when green man is showing for pedestrians- usually they will move off as soon as there is space even when crossing still in pedestrian phase. A trans man in the UK has been banned in the workplace restrooms after he was forced to use the women's restrooms to comply with the new EHRC guidance. The women complained because he is visibly male and so they told him he can't use any bathroom.
A screenshot of a Reddit post from the r/LegalAdviceUK subreddit by user Dijstraanon, titled "FtM transgender facing two different issues at work? England."
The post text reads:
"Brother in law is trans FtM and presents fully as a man. He's now facing an impossible situation at work with his employer telling him that due to recent legislation he must use the toilet of his birth gender. BUT several female colleagues have raised a grievance about him using their gendered toilet.
His employer has told him that he cannot use the toilet while he is at work until they sort it out and cannot give him a timeframe to do so. They do [cut off] have disabled separate toilets.
In the mean time one of his female colleagues has accused him of sexual harassment because he was used their gendered toilet. His menstrual cycle meant he needed to use the toilet.
He's been with the employer for just over 5 years but only in this location for 18 months. The location is mainly male with just a handful of females, and his workshop only has male toilets.
I do not know how to support him and as he's not in a union there is no one to turn too right now."

What is more, and relatedly, a larger section of the electorate has successfully been psy-oped into thinking that the reactionary bigot core is somehow The Real Volk who deserve some special deference, and pandering to whom is a sign of seriousness and proof that you are authentic and even Manly.

We are now in a society where flash mobs can turn up anywhere and police will simply stand back. Misinformation is enough to fuel it. At some point people will start using social media to dox people or organisations. It's a huge civil order threat that government and police aren't taking seriously.

The reason *everyone* should care about this - whatever their politics - is that nobody is safe from having an uncontrolled mob descending on the hotel they are staying at. And that's what is becoming permissible by the lack of a robust response.

In order to upset everyone from all camps and be damned to every possible kind of hell, living or otherwise, I got the bad art machine to draw Rococo's Basilisk
A lavish Rococo portrait of a basilisk presented as an 18th-century aristocrat, reclining amid gilded cartouches, shellwork, roses, ribbons, pearls, feathers and excessive decorative confidence. The reptile wears an expression of serene social superiority while surrounded by cherubs, classical statuary, a white peacock, ornamental inscriptions and a discreetly beribboned skull.

Fundamentally, part of why I put a lot of thought into any commentary on Israel is that at any moment you are commenting on the idea of a homeland, the country inside any of its historic borders, and the government's actions and it's vital to try to separate them. That's why I don't work at the BBC.
