New Yorkers: Do you have a form of immigration relief called withholding of removal? Have you received an ICE letter summoning you to 26 Federal Plaza? Here’s what  you can do:

1. Call our Immigration Legal Support Hotline at 1-800-354-0365, or call 311 and say "Immigration Legal" for free, confidential help in your native language.

2. Fill out our intake form to get help from the Rapid Response Legal Collaborative: nyc.gov/RRLC

3. Make a plan. Make sure you have an emergency contact and that someone you trust has your A-number. Talk to a lawyer before making any decisions.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

https://www.courthousenews.com/bullet-pocked-marker-memorializing-1918-lynching-goes-on-display-in-atlanta/Pocked with bullet holes and cracked at its pedestal by an off-road vehicle, the Georgia Historical Society marker reads in part: “Mary Turner, eight months pregnant, was burned, mutilated, and shot to death by a mob after publicly denouncing her husband’s lynching the previous day. … No charges were ever brought against known or suspected participants in these crimes. From 1880-1930, as many as 550 people were killed in Georgia in these illegal acts of mob violence.”
Now each word damaged by bullets is projected on a wall, and visitors hear those words spoken by some of Turner’s six generations of descendants.
“I’m glad the memorial was shot up,” great-granddaughter Katrina Thomas said Saturday night after her first look at the exhibit in the National Museum for Civil and Human Rights. “Millions of people are going to learn her story. That her voice is continuing years and years after, it shows history does not disappear. It lives and continues to grow.”
Americans learned about these lynchings in 1918 because they were investigated in the immediate aftermath by Walter White, who founded the Georgia chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and would become an influential voice for civil rights nationwide. A light-skinned Black man who could pass for white, he interviewed eyewitnesses and provided names of suspects to the governor of Georgia, according to his report in the NAACP’s publication, The Crisis.
Georgia was among the most active states for lynchings, according to the Equal Justice Initiative’s catalog of more than 4,400 documented racial terror lynchings in the U.S. between Reconstruction and World War II. The organization has placed markers at many sites and built a monument to the victims in Montgomery, Alabama.
The nation’s first anti-lynching legislation was introduced in 1918 amid national reaction to deaths of Mary and Hayes Turner and their neighbors in Georgia’s Brooks and Lowndes counties.

BP are technically first responders, but as we can see here and we have seen countless times through the years, they do not respond to help people who they don’t think need help. Because of international cell phone agreements, it can also be very hard to call 911 in remote border areas.

So, historically, men have used the privilege afforded to them by patriarchy to push the "unprofitable" work of care onto women, making it easier for them to hoard the more profitable (and thus higher-status) work for themselves. And companies encouraged this, because it meant more profits for them.
