I have no idea why I have received this email. Does anyone know if it's a scam? The only way you can respond is by phone.

The problem with this entire “talking across difference” approach to politics is that it assumes a shared consensus about democracy that no longer exists b/w the 2 main 🇺🇸 political parties. You don’t need to have lunch with people who don’t believe in free elections, equal rights, & the rule of law.

Today marks the 25th anniversary (😯) of our publication on discovery of FOXP2. To commemorate, I’ll repost a few prior threads about the gene. Here’s my explainer of how we tracked down FOXP2 & implicated it in speech/language deficits, in the days before completion of the human genome project.🗣️🧬🧪👇

Things you learn in an elevator: In Switzerland, it is illegal to own a single guinea pig because these animals need social interaction.
An elevator screen with a black frame displays trivia in French about guinea pig ownership. The blue screen shows a clock in the top-left corner set to 13:52 and a date of 03/10/2026. Next to this is French text that reads "En Suisse, il est illégal de posséder un seul cochon d'Inde car ces animaux ont besoin d'interaction sociale." (which translates to: "In Switzerland, it is illegal to own a single guinea pig because these animals need social interaction."). Below the time is a large blue panel with white text, "RC," which means "Rez-de-Chaussée" or ground floor, with a downward-pointing arrow and a small circle with a line through it. An illustration below the French text depicts three reddish-brown, white, and black guinea pigs grouped together over a bowl against an orange background, with a dark branch with leaves on the right.

Anyway. I don't have a very satisfying point here. In the whack-a-mole game of retracting bad papers, the number of mallets has stayed pretty much constant, but the number of moles has, for very obvious reasons, increased a thousandfold.
