Chimpanzees usually fail a simple pointing task that human infants and dogs pass. In our new iScience paper, we provide a possible explanation: once their attention is engaged, chimpanzees use human pointing to find hidden food 73% of the time. Attention may be the missing piece.
Figure 2. Three photos showing the experimental conditions. Left: the experimenter points toward the baited container while calling the chimpanzee’s name and making food grunts. Center: he points without vocal attention-getting cues. Right: he provides gaze and food grunts but does not point. Chimpanzees succeeded only when attention-getting cues and pointing were combined.

Cofnas here opining that lady professors’ lady parts and lady feelings mean that we can’t actually do the work as well as our strong manly straight men colleagues; we must instead resort to manipulation and emotions
College, Cambridge, in 2024. In blog posts, he had said that, in a meritocracy: “Blacks would disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment.” In a piece titled “Don’t Scapegoat Women”, published in January this year, Cofnas claimed “women but not men can get people fired by pointing and crying”.

He added: “To meet de facto quotas, employers have had to reach deeper into the pool of less qualified female candidates. For obvious reasons, affirmative action hires often have a chip on their shoulder. Many of them turn to social justice activism to distract from the fact that they aren’t as good at their job as the straight white men who earned their position based on merit, or weren’t hired at all.”

Are head injuries to cyclists an important cause of death in road travel fatalities? Conclusion
Answering the question ‘How important are head injuries in cyclists as a cause of road travel death?’ depends on the metric used for assessing importance. Pedestrians and drivers account for five and four times the number of fatal head injuries as cyclists. The fatal head injury rate is highest for cyclists by time travelled and for pedestrians using distance travelled.
