Ok, srsly, real talk urbanists. If you want to see this not being a golf course in your lifetime, you'll have to put in real work, not just post about what it *should* be. We all know what it should be. But are you willing to put in *consistent, unthanked, unacknowledged* 5 hours / week for 5 years?

If we can enshrine 12-foot fire lanes in the fire code and Streets Illustrated, it will be a boon for safe streets.
503.2 Specifications. Fire apparatus access roads shall be installed and arranged in accordance with Sections 503.2.1
through 503.2.8. Fire apparatus access roads shall not traverse underneath buildings unless approved.
[S] 503.2.1 Dimensions. Fire apparatus access roads shall have an unobstructed width of not less than 20 feet (6096 mm),
exclusive of shoulders, except for approved security gates in accordance with Section 503.6, and an unobstructed vertical
clearance of not less than ((13 feet 6 inches (4115 mm))) 14 feet (4267 mm).
Exceptions:
1. Access roads serving not more than two one-family dwellings or a single two-family dwelling shall have an
unobstructed width of not less than 12 feet (3658 mm).
2. Public streets shall be in accordance with Streets Illustrated, the Seattle Right-of-Way Improvements Manual.
503.2.2 Authority. The fire code official shall have the authority to require or permit modifications to the required access
widths where they are inadequate for fire or rescue operations or where necessary to meet the public safety objectives of the
jurisdiction.

Bob Kettle tried to undermine the social housing initiative with Prop 1B. Voters resoundingly rejected it, ensuring SSHD had its own funding and its housing would remain mixed-income. Now Bob Kettle is trying to reverse the voters will, using SSHD as an excuse to defund affordable housing.

This quote by Dwight Dively, who spent nearly two decades at King County doing budget work but is now back at the City of Seattle, is really quite damning and I'm afraid it will get buried in today's news cycle.
"I left a city government that ran well," said City Finance Director Dwight Dively, who served as the City's Finance Director for more than a decade before returning to the role this year after sixteen years away. "Coming back, I was struck by how much had changed, and not for the better. There is real work to do here, and I am glad to be part of doing it. Seattle residents trust us with their money and their services. Being a responsible steward of that trust is the job."

On June 18, the driver of a Prius jumped the curb of a Leesburg Pike service road near Seven Corners and fatally hit 38-year-old Sean King.
