It's #ForestFriday folks! There's something relaxing about watching and listening to rain hit the trees. Not quite with the force it has done this week mind you. It's been proper soggy! Join us today or check out the feed to bring nature to you 😊 More info on the poster below ⬇️ #EastCoastKin
#ForestFriday banner features a redwood-colored trail through the forest with green, yellow and teal leaves on the trees and bushes.

The text says,

"It is #ForestFriday. A weekly celebration of the outdoors & nature. If you are so inclined, post your forest-related photographs or artwork with the hashtag #ForestFriday. Happy trails, my friends."

#Scape #ForestFriday #ClassicMono #ColorADay #BWFri Today's hike up Cerro San Luis mountain with fog in the valleys. #ECK #Hiking #Weather #Photography #LandscapePhotography #WestCoastKin
Black and white image of a mountain slope going from lower left to upper right. There is fog that blankets the lower elevations, so it is pure white. The fog starts to thin on the mountain slope revealing some oak trees and vegetation. The trail is visible on the right side with low vegetation on each side. The foreground has some rocks that the sun is hitting directly, creating a strong contrast in their formation. In the absolute foreground are silhouettes of dry weeds that look like separated pompoms on a stem. In the distance, black mountains poke just above the fog with a few wispy clouds in an otherwise clear sky. 'M' Trail on Cerro San Luis in San Luis Obispo, California.

The fossil industry has simple motives: maximising fossil fuel combustion (more that = more $) Climate is simple too: the more combustion, the worse it gets (more so for each new tonne burned) so...the fossil industry supports the things that make climate change (and our lives) worse, consistently

Exhausted, I looked down at Gunsight Lake. I carried all I needed to live in the mountains for a while, and didn't own much more anywhere else. But I was free and felt like I belonged, for once. August 2009. #MountainMonday #GunsightPass #Glacier #NationalParks #photography #travel #hiking
View from a mountain pass. The lake is seen from a distance of about one kilometer, and a few hundred meters high. In keeping with its name, it's shaped like a gun holster, and it's a kilometer and a half long, and half a kilometer wide. The lake is surrounded by very tall mountains, about one kilometer higher than the photographer perspective, and they recede into the distance for ten kilometers or more; their lower slopes and covered by forests. The sky is almost completely clear and blue.

Trump officially rolled back fuel efficiency standards today. The new target for 2031 is about 34.5 miles per gallon, down from 50.4. That means more gas burned, more pollution, and more money out of drivers’ pockets. So much for making things affordable.

Monarch sipping from goldenrods. Norwich VT, August 2026 #ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #Nature #Stunday #ColorADay #OrangeSun
This image shows a monarch butterfly perched on some stems of goldenrod and sipping nectar from one of the blossoms. The butterfly is in the upper left, facing right. with its wings closed. We have a lovely view of the beautiful oranges and reds of its wings, as well as its body, antennae, and long proboscis, currently extended into a goldenrod blossom. The goldenrod appears vertically in the right third of the image, and horizontally in the lower third, partially framing the monarch. The image is finished by a tan background with greenish yellow bokeh from more distant flowers.

a #lake & a #mountain #Stunday #ECK for years I have posted pics with this peak above Whiskeytown Lake & incorrectly identified it as Bully Choop. I was wrong. this is Shasta Bally, the tallest peak in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
a snow-dusted Shasta Bally rises above the cool clear water of Whiskeytown Lake, reflected on the rippled surface.
the Wintu Tribe inhabited this area and called the mountain 'bohem buli' - big mountain. Bally is the rough translation of buli.
& now I'm guessing that Bully is also a rough translation.
