Ten thousand years ago, someone, somewhere, chose not to eat a seed. No name. No grave. No anniversary. Only a monument that grows back everywhere, every year.
PHOTO by Lineta. Golden wheat stalks stretch across the frame, their tips catching the amber light of a low sun. Each head sways gently, blurred in the foreground while a soft focus hints at a dense forest edge in the distance. The warmth of late summer radiates through the scene, silent and still, as if time has paused to admire the glow resting on the ripened grain.

Autumn Has Landed for #Stunday and #OrangeSun by #ColorADay Happy Sunday everyone! #EastCoastKin #ECK #photography #seedhead #gardening #autumn #macro #macrophotography #sunlight (iPhone camera)
Photograph taken five minutes ago in the garden of the seedhead of an iris. I feel it sums up autumn and I'm really rather chuffed with this whilst trying to ignore that my jamas bottoms are now soggy from crouching down in morning dew-covered grass. No judgement that I'm not dressed yet - it's Sunday, a day of rest...and photography!

Image is portrait in dimension with a dark grey background, thanks to my ever trusty shoebox lid. A three-headed iris seedhead fills the frame in colours of olive green, cream, tan, chestnut, dark brown and a glimpses of a wonderful burnt orange. The front most seedpod is the largest and contains a minimum of ten seeds (number goes up each time I count). Each seed looks slightly like it's been gently crushed between thumb and forefinger. They nestle within what looks like two-fingered, chunky, wide-open, cream-coloured pea pod, at right angles to each other. The two other seedheads of the trio sit behind and aren't so open, and are out of focus. Morning sunlight catches areas of the pods and seeds.

Message to self - don't be grumpy that you haven't got anything new to post for Stunday, get off your backside, into the garden and actually look. Got SO many photos within five minutes...and morning dew is a photography gift.

Tall rushes at the edge of a misty pond.. Norwich VT, September 2026 #ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #Scape #Landscape #Nature #ColorADay #BWFri #ClassicMono
This monochrome image shows a group of rushes standing at the edge of a pond on a misty morning. The rushes rise from the muddy, leaf-scattered shore of the pond at the bottom of the frame, and end about one third of the way from its top, where their seed heads can be seen against the fog. Behind the rushes is the surface of the pond, where reflections of distant trees and bushes can just be made out. The image is finished by the appearance of other yet more distant trees and bushes, which gradually vanish in the mist hanging over the entire scene.

Bright yellow mushroom among the decaying leaves. Norwich VT, September 2026 #ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #Scape #Landscape #Nature #ForestFriday #FungiFriday #FungiFriends
This image shows a bright yellow mushroom, probably an amanita of some sort, growing among decaying leaves, wood chips, and branches. The mushroom rises from the forest floor about a third of the way from the bottom of the frame, and a little right of center. We have a lovely view of its rough white stalk and striking yellow cap with jagged white protrusions sticking out of it. At the very top of the mushroom the cap becomes blushed with red. A brown oak leaf sits at the base of the stalk, running over to the left border of the image. The image is otherwise filled with reddish brown wood chips, and dark brown twigs, and is finished by bluish-black patches where the morning light reflects off their damp surfaces.

The leaf appears just right and above center, and we have a lovely view of the texture of its red surface interspersed with yellowish veins. Its surface is covered with water droplets from recent rain. It lies on a group of low, flat, yellow-brown fungi running from the upper left to lower right. We have a nice view of their mottled surfaces, and occasional hints of the gills on their undersides. To the upper right and lower left are scattered wood chips and in varying shades of dark brown and bluish black. This image shows a cluster of houses, several with turf roofs, nestled near the foot of a mountain in Lofoten. The houses are quite close to the sea, and a curve of sandy beach appears in the lower third of the frame, mostly on the right. A grassy field in the midground leads to the houses, set among hills near the center left of the frame. In the near distance beyond the houses is a set of dark, jagged moutains, their peaks about one third of the way from the top of the frame. The image is finished by the sky overhead, filled with a foreboding looking cloud, but also patches here and there of summer blue.

Morning #BlueSky ☕️ Let’s gather our thoughts for the week ahead as we wonder through the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland. Have a beautiful day my friends ☺️ #BlueSkyMonday #ECK #Photography #Nature #Ireland #Wicklow #PhotographyOfBlueSky #PhotographersOfBlueSky #Autumn #Fall #Landscapes #MountainMonday
Our photograph captures a beautiful autumn landscape deep in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland.

In the foreground, a broad meadow stretches across the scene, its grasses glowing in rich shades of golden brown and amber beneath the afternoon sunlight.

The uneven texture of the grass suggests a quiet, natural field, with a simple line of dark fence posts running away towards the hills on the right.

Beyond the meadow, dense woodland climbs the lower slopes of a large mountain.

The trees are beginning to turn into autumn colours, with patches of warm gold and bronze scattered among deeper green foliage.

The hillside rises gently from left to right, creating a sweeping diagonal across the image.

Behind it, more rounded mountain slopes can be seen in the distance.

Above the landscape is a brilliant blue sky, filled with large, bright white clouds whose soft edges contrast beautifully with the dark forested mountains.

The overall impression is one of peaceful isolation. A quiet autumn walk surrounded by mountains, woodland and open countryside, with warm golden sunlight bringing the changing season vividly to life.

And finally, today’s picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

Misty morning pond. Norwich VT, September 2026 #ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #Scape #Landscape #Stunday
This image shows a view of a still, reflective pond on a misty morning seen from behind a set of tall green bullrushes. The eye is captured by a central rush, rising from the lower right corner, whose tip ends in a brownish-orange seed head at nearly the center of the image. This rush draws the eye to the far left shore of the pond, where another set of rushes and bushes are reflected in the nearly mirror-like surface of the pond. Behind the central rush, other slightly more distant rushes rise from left to right, framing a tree on the right shore of the pond, and its reflection in the water. The image is finished by the appearance of part of a willow on the left border of the frame, and more distant trees behind the pond that gradually vanish in the mist.

This image shows a male non-breeding scarlet tanager perched on a branch. The bird appears just left of center horizontally and occupies about two thirds of the frame vertically. It's facing toward the left edge of the frame, and has its head turned toward us, so that we see a three-quarter profile of the left side of its head. Its head appears about one third of the way from the left border of the image, while its tail ends at the right border just above the lower right corner. We have an excellent view of the lovely yellow feathers of its head and chest, its black and grey wing, and its grayish-yellow back and tail. The branch it's perched on slopes upward to the right from just above the lower left corner to close to the right border about one third of the way from the top, where it joins a larger branch that runs almost vertically along the right edge of the frame. The image is finished by a pleasing green and black bokeh from distant foliage.

This photograph captures the essence of kōyō (or momijigari, the seasonal custom of autumn foliage viewing), a cherished pastime in Japan that dates back to the refined courtly culture of the Heian period (794–1185).
Framed in a breathtaking display of autumn brilliance, a towering canopy of fiery crimson Japanese maple (momiji) and luminous golden ginkgo (ichō) expands above a rugged, hand-stacked stone retaining wall (ishigaki). At the base of the wall, a thick, glowing carpet of fallen ginkgo leaves covers the earth like a golden tapestry. Standing amidst this fallen foliage are two quiet figures holding bright, matching umbrellas—one vibrant yellow and one deep red—strikingly echoing the dual-colored canopy towering above them. The soft, diffused light of a damp autumn day illuminates the scene, evoking the tactile coolness of mountain air, the subtle scent of damp earth, and the quiet rustle of fallen leaves underfoot.
Both the maple and ginkgo serve as quintessential fūbutsushi—poetic seasonal markers that signify the peak of autumn across the archipelago. The presence of the weathered stone masonry and the corner of a traditional timber building suggests the sanctuary of a temple or shrine precinct nestled in the mountains. Here, the deliberate integration of architectural stonework with the surrounding forest demonstrates the enduring tradition of Japanese monozukuri (artisanal mastery in environmental design), where human cultivation acts in gentle harmony with the wild cycles of nature.

A dramatic, ultra-low-angle, upwards-looking, colour, vertical shot of a sleek, modern glass skyscraper in Houston, soaring into a moody sky filled with heavy grey and pockets of blue clouds. It's called the Texas Tower, was designed by Pelli Clarke & Partners (of the famous Pelli), and is only 735-ft tall, so it's far from being the tallest skyscraper in Houston.

Visually, the architectural design, per Google's explanation, "features multiple interlocking vertical geometric blocks wrapped entirely in reflective curtain wall glass, giving the structure a segmented, high-tech appearance. Deep vertical mullions create sharp, contrasting grid lines that accentuate the building's immense height, while a distinct horizontal indentation divides the lower and upper sections."

The building’s dark blue and silver glass facades act like a mirror, dynamically reflecting the swirling clouds and sky, while a neighboring skyscraper is partially visible as a dark reflection on the lower right corner.

There are things that take a while to make sense. We saw them. We thought we knew. Still, we weren't ready for what they meant. #ImageAndVerse #Stunday
A wooden boardwalk curves from the lower left through an open moorland landscape. A wide-spreading pine stands on the right, with more trees and mist in the background beneath a cloudy sky.

After today’s picture description, l have written a poem about my capture.

A tall wooden sailing ship sits moored in a harbour beneath a dramatic, storm-filled sky.

The vessel dominates the foreground, with two towering masts rising towards the clouds, surrounded by a complex web of ropes, rigging and rope ladders.

Its long bowsprit stretches diagonally across the left side of the image, with netting hanging beneath it.

The hull is dark, edged with warm ochre-yellow trim, while a cream-coloured canvas covers part of the deck. The name Jumellen is visible on the side of the ship.

Behind it, other boats rest on choppy, blue-grey water. Along the distant shoreline are dark buildings and trees, silhouetted against the sky.

Heavy charcoal clouds fill most of the scene, but breaks in the clouds allow brilliant shafts of pale light and glowing orange sunlight to reach the horizon.

The contrast between the threatening darkness and the golden light gives the photograph a powerful, cinematic atmosphere, as though the ship is preparing to sail through a storm.

And finally, those picture is for this with a white border frame. And now for my poem..

I call it …Navigating Life’s Storm

When the sea grows wild
and the sky turns black,
keep your hands upon the wheel
and your eyes upon the horizon.

The waves may rise
and the wind may roar,
while darkness hides the distant shore.

But beyond the storm
there is always the possibility
of calmer waters.

Trust your course.
Hold steady.

Let hope be the light
that guides you through the darkness.

For the journey may be difficult,
the waters may be unforgiving,
but you are stronger
than the storm that surrounds you.

One of nature's everyday miracles. Norwich VT, September 2026 #ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #Stunday #Nature #AOFoto
This image shows a portion of a spiderweb covered with drops of dew and backlit by the morning sun. Part of the center of the web appears in the lower left corner of the frame, and a prominent strand leaves from it there and angles upward to the upper right corner. The background is black, except for some green, yellow and red bokeh mostly in the upper right corner. The droplets of dew can be clearly distinguished; by some trick of the light (refraction of the sun's rays, at a guess) many of them are subtly tinted with the colors of the rainbow. One of nature's many spontaneous decorations that appear where least expected!

Black and white close-up/macro double exposure of the same photo of the tightly clustered center disk and scooping bicolour petals of a dahlia. The greyscale moves from deep, shadowy blacks in the crevices to bright, luminous whites where the light catches the edges of the petals. A wavy effect is created
