When I'm on my home network I use pihole DNS adblockers. It's free, open source, & curated blocklists are available from multiple sources. I'm running multiple instances for different purposes. My devices use aggressive blocking, my spouse's devices less so; smart TVs are their own block rules.

Some of the better VPN providers can simplify this for you. Proton VPN (the one I use) has a "Net Shield" feature which does a pretty good job of blocking ads and malware on my devices when I take them out of my home network.
