I think it is crucial for the health of the Democratic party that the entire consultant class from previous administrations, including and especially Clinton, be told to go home and stop bothering people. They are wrong about everything and have been holding the party back for decades.

WA State should do the same. And frankly we shouldn't wait until next year. Not having a full-time legislature means we can't act as decisively as we need to in this moment.

Sad commentary but it’s really no use to call for his termination. SPD almost never fires officers, even for crimes. It took a whole international incident to get Daniel Auderer fired.

SPD is just straight up saying publicly that they need to be 'freed' to police our communities 'proactively' We can agree on one thing; Violent offenders need to be held accountable We should start with Officer Caleb Howard, who also attacked my friend on Mayday www.divestspd.com/p/bad-cop-ba...

Mayor Katie's gun violence plan is long on programs and short on the one thing Seattle needs most: accountability.
Prevention matters. So do serious consequences for violent offenders.
Seattle already has a powerful tool to curb violence - its police officers. Give them the staffing, support, and freedom to do the job.
Let cops be cops.

There is an attached image that says
SPOG supports prevention as one component of any serious strategy to reduce gun violence.
But prevention alone is not enough. There must also be accountability, with serious and meaningful consequences for those who commit violent crimes and repeatedly put our communities at risk.
Not surprisingly, Mayor Katie's plan is overly complicated. Seattle does not need another layer of programs, studies, partnerships, and bureaucracy before taking action. Mayor Wilson already has one of the most effective resources available to curb violence: Seattle police officers.
Give officers the staffing, support, and freedom to proactively police our neighborhoods. Hold violent offenders accountable.

[in front of easel that reads "D5 Smart Growth Plan"] That’s why I’ve identified several sites in District 5 that everyone would be ok with
[gesturing at map] Here’s a nice lot between the tow yard and the hazardous waste transfer station [*actual example]
[pointing at picture of a culvert with brackish water running out of it] Here’s a lovely tract just downhill from the raw sewage sluice!
[picture of a tar pit surrounded by trees with a washing machine, a bike, and various garbage sinking into it] and there’s also the Weeping Tar Bog of Northgate

Cities are living things and neighborhoods change as newcomers leave their mark. This is okay, even if it is often uncomfortable. The best thing we can do is build a lot of new homes so that new people can move in without displacing long time residents.

BOB KETTLE: We need some answers from the mayor on public safety!
BOB: For starters, why did she fire the police chief?
[CAPTION: Because he was out of town 40% of the time]
BOB: And why did it take so long for the mayor to have a press conference after the Bite of Seattle shootings?
[CAPTION: because she had to wait for the chief and his 2 top deputies to fly back into town from a conference in Dallas]
BOB: Does the mayor even have a public safety plan?
[CAPTION: crime rates are down in all categories this year]
BOB: [pointing at caption] Can we please get rid of these text boxes? t’s very distracting[CAPTION: but you said you needed answers]
-In closing, um, crime is bad and I blame the mayor

This quote by Dwight Dively, who spent nearly two decades at King County doing budget work but is now back at the City of Seattle, is really quite damning and I'm afraid it will get buried in today's news cycle.
"I left a city government that ran well," said City Finance Director Dwight Dively, who served as the City's Finance Director for more than a decade before returning to the role this year after sixteen years away. "Coming back, I was struck by how much had changed, and not for the better. There is real work to do here, and I am glad to be part of doing it. Seattle residents trust us with their money and their services. Being a responsible steward of that trust is the job."
