I picked up from dad working at Forestry before it became DoC was that the NZ bush can’t sustain humans. It’s a nutritional desert. Yes there are pest/game animals, but there aren’t enough to guarantee survival, especially in places like Abel Tasman There are edible plants, but not enough calories

I've mentioned this before, but: Look at core rope memory, the kind of ROM that NASA used in the Apollo programs. Programming at the time was heavily gendered as feminine, and one reason why was that the only experts in knitting were women. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_ro...
