It’s pretty bad when this whole episode, as funny as it is, brings absolutely zero relief. Nothing reverses the fact that someone of this magnitude of perversion, failure, and corruption easily ascended to the highest office on earth and destroyed everything around him in under 6 months.

There's something about the way men use LLMs that feel like those men at the strip club who believe that the dancers like them for their personality and wit. They just want a toy that makes them feel good.

One thing I never realized until I moved to the DC area is the absolutely insane amount of people who think they are entitled to a job in government - forever.
It is part of the rot in DC and they need a reality check about how the actual world works.

There is no longer any doubt that Israel has set up a fake humanitarian organisation so it can kettle Gazans into a kill box and murder them en masse It is evil beyond description and in a decent world it would result in immediate, massive, global action to stop them and prosecute those responsible

This billionaire’s fortune is built atop research funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, and yet he seeks to destroy that agency and its investments in the scientific engine that has fueled our tech industry since the 1950s. And why? Because it tried to include more diverse scholars?

The bare minimum for the 2028 candidate: - Pack the Court - bring back J6 and docs cases (they were dismissed without prejudice!) - Bribe takers and bribe makers jailed - DHS abolished This is the Wide Awakes minimum. You can quibble about timing and sequencing, but these have to happen.

The damage LLMs do to critical thinking skills, the fact that it encourages people to not do research for themselves while churning out poor quality data that people treat as a replacement for authoritative sources—those are the problems. That's going to do more damage than Grok sounding like 8chan.

This is the direct consequence of no senior officials, let alone GWB, paying any legal, personal, or professional price at all for torture & Abu Ghraib two decades ago. Our polity completely fails at elite accountability, and so here we are, on the doorstep of full-on fascism.

There is not a single person in the Democratic Party who is treating the death of USAID with the gravity it deserves. There’s no political issue more important than the death of 14 million people, but they’re just delivering boilerplate condemnations and nothing more.
According to the forecasting models, the current steep funding cuts— coupled with the potential dissolution of the agency—could lead to more than 14 million additional deaths by 2030, averaging more than 2·4 million deaths per year. These deaths include 4·5 million among children younger than 5 years, or more than 700 000 deaths annually.

Juli was able to make a phone call late Friday and told her family that:

She is in a warehouse, but she does not know the location

She believes that the people who picked her up are bounty hunters

From Hunter S. Thompson’s ESPN page 2 column one week after 9/11.
We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time."
Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.
