Die Probleme in Auen, Flüssen und Grundwasser hängen zusammen. Für den Auenökologen Damm liegt ein Teil ihrer Lösung darin, Wasser länger in der Landschaft zu halten, statt es im Winter schnell abzuleiten. "Die gute Nachricht ist, wir haben im Winter sehr viel Wasser und zunehmend Wasser. Das heißt, wir müssen einfach lernen, diesen Wasserhaushalt über das Jahr besser zu verteilen" - auch über die Jahreszeiten hinweg.

Nach WELT-Informationen wurden die Ermittlungsbehörden erst durch die mediale Berichterstattung über die angeblichen Drohungen aktiv. Wie die Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Stuttgart auf Anfrage dieser Redaktion mitteilt, wurde beim dortigen Staatsschutzzentrum „von Amts wegen ein Prüfvorgang" angelegt. Ein solcher Vorgang dient zunächst dazu, einen Sachverhalt aufzuklären und zu prüfen, ob überhaupt ein strafrechtlicher Anfangsverdacht besteht".
Auf mehrere detaillierte Fragen zum mutmaßlichen Inhalt der Drohschreiben antwortete die Behörde zunächst nicht. Auch ob entsprechende Schreiben überhaupt vorliegen oder jemals vorgelegen haben, wollte die Generalstaatsanwaltschaft zunächst nicht mitteilen.
Man teilte lediglich mit, Auskünfte könnten verweigert werden, wenn dadurch die sachgemäße Durchführung eines schwebenden Verfahrens erschwert oder gefährdet würde. Nach Abwägung aller Gesichtspunkte komme man daher derzeit zu dem Ergebnis, die Frage nach möglichen Beweismitteln - „auch unter Berücksichtigung der Bedeutung der Pressefreiheit" - nicht beantworten zu können.
Erst nachdem diese Redaktion rechtliche Schritte angekündigt hatte, beantwortete ein Sprecher der Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Stuttgart diesen Montag die Fragen, ob entsprechende Drohschreiben überhaupt vorliegen oder jemals vorgelegen haben knapp mit: „Nein".
Was die Ermittler nun also genau prüfen, ist offen. Auch ob ein Anfangsverdacht für eine strafbare Bedrohung besteht, ist bislang unklar. Das Verfahren dauere an, teilten die Ermittlungsbehörden lediglich mit; weitere Angaben könnten derzeit nicht gemacht werden. Nach Informationen aus Sicherheitskreisen fehlt es bislang an objektiven Beweismitteln, die die Aussagen untermauern könnten. Die Drohschreiben, heißt es aus Sicherheitskreisen, seien von Hagel nicht aufgehoben worden.
