In a school where the behaviour culture is strong and behaviour leadership is everywhere, a good teacher can be an excellent teacher. In a school where it's absent, a good teacher will have to fight just to remain good, and it will probably burn them out in the process.

Where's my phone, asks Jeff. In my bag, says Elaine. Where's your bag, he asks. Next to the suitcase, she says. Where's the suitcase, he says. Which one, she says. The one next to your bag, he says. In there, she says. Where, he says. There, she shouts. Christ on earth.

What if, instead of our week finishing with the weekend, it STARTED with the 'weekend'. What if we viewed Saturday and Sunday as the beginning of the week. Would this change your perspective at all, and if so how? #RandomThoughts

Telling someone they need to be more confident will not make them more confident. It may do the opposite if they feel pressure. Give them opportunities to PRACTISE LOOKING & SOUNDING confident, break it down to small steps. This is more likely to help them learn over time how to APPEAR confident.

If a student says, “I can’t do it - it’s really difficult.” We always say, “Yes, it is difficult. But you can do difficult things.” It’s a game changer for lots of young people.

Being nervous about something doesn't have to mean that you lack confidence in yourself or that you can't do it. It means you really care about doing well. You can feel the adrenaline, which we call 'nerves', without this being a bad thing. Acknowledge the adrenaline & let this focus your efforts.

Just a little nudge that the best way to have your views heard is to submit to the call for evidence. I massively appreciate that you’re insanely busy and it’s a long survey (you don’t have to respond to every question!). But this is a big opportunity for positive change… tinyurl.com/45j92u9p

I’m reading up on teacher recruitment, but I don’t see clear patterns about what first brought people into teaching. For me, it felt familiar - I thought I’d like it (especially reading) & I wasn’t sure about what career I wanted. I gave it a go to see. How about other teachers, past & present?

@teachertapp.bsky.social results - nearly two thirds of respondents would leave teaching if they could move with the same salary. Our sector needs to take note! How do we make teaching more sustainable, and compatible with an improved work-home balance?
