Two Y1 boys leg it down the corridor. Boys, I say, will you stop running. They stop and I kneel down, taking their hands. I don’t want you to fall and hurt yourself, I say, so please boys don’t run, ok? I’ve told you 417 times. Ok, they say. As they walk past me,I hear one say: who’s that?

New rufty tufty boy in Year 1, left his lunchbox behind, so I take his hand to find it. Then his new pal runs out with it smiling, gives it to him and he bursts into tears and is so happy he fist-bumps his pal and it is too much for me so I've come to the office for a sit down.

Our excellent Inclusion Lead went to an attendance briefing today. Three main messages were: keep a register every day don't off role kids without telling their parents SEND kids have low attendance (especially EHCP kids!) That some schools don't know this terrifies me.

Rudi had a small operation today in hospital. When the doctor finished explaining things, he asked if there were any questions. To my surprise Rudi said there was. Is your first name Kevin, he said. I can not tell you how strange that boy is sometimes.

One of the biggest issues with AI is that people are using it the wrong way round. They want a document, or a poster (some finished product to post or sell) without doing the thinking. They are bypassing (and replacing) the thought processes needed for clarity of understanding.

For years I got stressed the night before school that I wouldn't sleep, so I'd be knackered, and the stress would keep me awake and so on. Here's my advice: don't worry about it. If you're tired, you're tired, it's all good. Your mind is buzzing, it's all natural, just go with it. You'll be fine.

Thought I'd finish the holiday with a bit of a walk. Would have been perfect (well not far off,.it isn't Yorkshire) if I hadn't been stung half to death having briefly lost the path and had to beat my way through an evil patch of nettles and brambles. Wankers.

There's an underclass of people that don't play any positive part in society. They care nothing for people, laws or property. They go unnoticed most of the time, until their culture clashes with the mainstream. They don't give a fuck. And I should know, I grew up with them.

Rudi was forced to choose A levels he didn't like so he could get on his rugby academy. Last year he got EEU. He's not that academic, but worked so hard all year (literally every day) and today got BBC. For a lad who spends most of his time in the land of Ruud, that's amazing. He's a good lad.

So we land, customs and passport is chaos. It's 35 degrees and this is the 'grassy area' outside the airport. Alex is stuck in traffic and I'm wondering whether it would be quicker to walk home. This heat is insane.

When I was younger, I was pretty fearless (a benefit of limited intelligence). Becoming a parent introduced a level of emotion and worry that I didn't think possible. Today I was as distressed as I've ever felt, partly because I had to smile and wave at the little goon.

Came back from the Bay of Islands today. Me and Ruud swam in the sea but I had one eye out for fins, I can tell you. There is so little development round here, it is like looking back in time. Just splendid.
