The UK economy has problems. There's been barely any per capita GDP growth or real income growth in about 20 years. Policymakers would be better off finding solutions for this than getting primary schools to make lists of children at risk of unemployment. substack.nomoremarking.com/p/schools-ar...

Chasing ‘Belonging’ without a focus on improving behaviour so that the learning environment is safe, calm, orderly and predictable is just the same nonsense from the past.

Isn’t Inclusion everything students interact with in a school? Why rebrand a SENCO job as Inclusion Lead/Director?

Isaac @isaacmoore7.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
This is so important. The same words we use don’t mean the same thing to everyone. This is even the case within schools. Ask your Sendco what it means and then ask your AHT for T&L.

“High standards and inclusion are two sides of the same coin.” After reading the white paper carefully and discussing it during a SENCo forum this week, I’ve written on the shift in language, and what some of this might mean for schools in practice. moderncassie.blogspot.com/2026/03/a-sh...

Session 1 @researchedbrum.bsky.social I am speaking on why leaders need a leadership framework for their development in their context and how we might go about doing this. The impact of leaders’ work on staff wellbeing, culture and results for students is too important to be left to chance.

Tomorrow I'll be talking @researchedbrum.bsky.social on one of my minor obsessions: Why sometimes people change and other times they don't. I think it's a big reason why most PD fails.

Are we just going to start putting the word ‘inclusive’ in front of everything now? Inclusive teaching. Inclusive pastoral practices. Inclusive detentions. The last one is mine 😂

I'm gonna keep banging this drum: AI is a useful tool for an expert, it can provide shortcuts and efficiencies in the same way as many other tech tools do. AI is a massive problem for anyone inexpert, because it makes stuff up. If you lack expertise you just can't tell how good the output is.

One of my favourite results today was for a student who only got one grade 4+ today. It was in maths and it was testament to incredible hard work from her and a number of SEND staff who supported her. Success looks different for different folks. That was one of the best grades earned today.

A Level results will be known by school leaders tomorrow. Lots of school leaders and teachers are anxiously waiting. There are lots of people that work in education in various roles, but if you are not directly responsible for results, then you don’t really understand what I’m talking about.
