Nevi was taking a while even under Biden. They had to create the program/rules from scratch. And the first step was for the states to create a plan which for most states was also starting from scratch

Unreal Brian Lehrer segment, you’ve got to listen to believe it. Brian keeps saying that callers are blowing up the lines to complain about e-bikes, and then he gets progressively more annoyed with callers when they keep saying cars are the real danger in NYC nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/08/27/t...

Every time I travel outside of NYC, somebody inevitably asks me "so, how is NYC under Mamdani?" or similar. The guy is nothing more than what appears to be a competent mayor doing competent mayor things, but they just assume he's releasing prisoners from Rikers or doing batman villain shit.

This cruelty has no need but cruelty. Haiti remains deeply dangerous; a country in the throes of anarchy. Hundreds of thousands of people are SAFE. They are safe. They are safe here and the nation has decided to make them unsafe. We are embarking on a tragedy and we cannot look away. We cannot.

In a roundabout way, one can make the argument that the corrupt and impenetrable chicanery of the NY Democratic party has helped the DSA. Participating in Democratic party politics is impenetrable and transparently futile, and people are looking for an outlet for their organizing energy.

Why is the Flatbush Avenue busway construction not finished yet? This is taking far too long for a project that should’ve been done in a week or two. Construction delivery is a big barrier to getting people to accept these projects.

The city needs to take more roadspace on the bridges. Even if we could rein in fast e-bikes and scooters today, narrow, two-way bike lanes + the steep slopes of bridges means you have a big mismatch of speed between people going in opposite directions.

Kind of incredible how far ahead of the rest of the country California and Texas are on battery storage. CA hit 12 GW of storage on the grid at one point this weekend (42% of load); Texas 8 GW (16%). New York and all of the other ISOs/RTOs are functionally at zero.
Chart from gridstatus.io showing CAISO fuel mix on March 29. At around 7 pm, battery storage (purple) makes up by far the largest share of the state's power — more than 12 GW or 43%, almost double the share of the next largest at that time, natural gas.Chart from gridstatus.io showing ERCOT fuel mix on March 28. In the morning and evening hours, battery storage (purple) makes up a significant share of the state's power, peaking at 8 GW around 8 pm.
