People talk a lot about foot fetishists, but nobody talks about how artists are all sickos for hands. Anyone who draws the human form regularly goes absolutely wolf-howl sicko mode over a well drawn hand. It's like an entire body on it's own, artists are out here hubba-hubba-ing and awooga-ing

The drawing went through a million versions, a test print I hated, and at least 3 declarations of DONE. As Cora says in the book: the opposite of control is rhythm. Sometimes you have to let a drawing stew until it tells you what it needs. Here’s how this one grew. www.patreon.com/catrocketshi...

Today, Becky Chambers’s As You Wake, Break the Shell is out! I made a visual love letter to its seeds, connections, and instructions for living: “Live. Live. Live. Live. Rest. Repair. Remember. Live.”
a drawing! Mostly green! a background of leafy greens. in front, two women. on the left, a butchy woman looks up at what the woman on the right is holding: a huge, germinating, glowing bean. Over them are the words, "Live. Live. Live. Live. Rest. Repair. Remember. Live." Also there are two bees and a starry scape.

I moved to a bigger town in 3rd grade and found and read all the paranormal books in our classroom, then in the school library. Also wanted to play house as a jaguar. I recruited a girl to play as my owner and took her down into the depths with me. Sadly for her, she never embraced her inner weirdo

I'm dying laughing at how the cat has conformed to her flower shaped bed today
A white cat is sleeping curled up in a med that has five fluffy white lobes of a flower petal, the cat has half her face peeking upwards and otherwise has filled the pentagonal space in the center of the bed completely

I loved our recorder unit in 2nd grade and the only thing actually weird about it was that the brand of recorders we all got were branded not as recorders but as “songflutes” so the teacher got kind of pissy with anyone who inaccurately referred to our recorders as recorders

mass email from me when i transitioned. the body of the email reads-
"about 15 years ago i sent out a mass email stating that i had used the Troy Aikman quarterback rating system to decide that the right choice was to switch email providers from Aol to Comcast. using the same system i'm pleased to announce that the Troy Aikman quarterback ratings system has given me the clarity to go ahead and switch genders.
i'm available to anyone by phone that would like to crunch the numbers. thanks eveyrbody and sorry for the mass email! and thanks Troy Aikman!"

Europe is now the most likely starting point for bat evolution, about 65 million years ago, and echolocation was already working then.

Cropaganda, cornaganda even, 1925 style. From J Russell Smith, North America.
"The Corn Belt is a gift of the gods-the rain god, the sun god, the ice god, and the gods of geology.
In the middle of the North American continent the gods of geology made a wide expanse of land where the rock layers are nearly horizontal. The ice gods leveled the surface with their glaciers, making it ready for the plow and also making it rich. The rain god gives summer showers. The sun god gives summer heat. All this is nature's conspiracy to make man grow corn. Having corn, man feeds it to cattle and hogs, and thereby becomes a producer of meat."

Of the first 500 enslaved Indigenous people that Christopher Columbus sent back to Spain, 250 died en route. Over the following decades, hundreds of thousands more died working in the gold mines and sugar plantations of Hispaniola and resisting Spanish domination. Today, we honor their resistance.

the fundamental thing wrong with this ai-driven "hyper personalization" pipe dream is that your preferences are constantly changing, primarily in response to experiencing things that are different from your current preferences and expectations, through this little-known process called Living.

We report: we have been keeping an eye on the slow collapse of the sky. Our expert is comparing the state of each layer minute to minute, and there is a distinct bend in places where the weight is getting heavier. We do not know what we will do if it all ends up on the ground.
Digital painting of a dark grey, cloudy sky: there are ripples of different width and amplitude, deep, dark grooves, with a lighter sheen in some places. At the very bottom of the frame, there is a strip of white sky.

We report: there are altostratus clouds keeping dawn at bay, and it feels darker down here for the specks of light we can see. We are expecting rain in the afternoon, but we think it might come early when we see the clouds still advancing, and we hear the wind rising.
Digital painting of a dark twilight sky: there is a thick blanket of dark blue clouds stretching out from the right-hand side of the frame, with a gap to the left-hand side. The sky showing through is pale, a bit of yellow light tinting the edges of the clouds.
