When playing DOS games as a kid, I was always asking myself what might be happening there on the horizon and I imagined, what it would be like to go there. There were a lot of games with beautiful and interesting backgrounds like here in Lotus 3. Entire worlds in mind with just a few pixels.

Tank Chair episode 1 is great as an adaptation. Dub is eh, I need to try the sub to see how I like those voices. But as CG goes, I think it nails the style and I love the vibrant colors through the grimy city, it looks fantastic Can't wait to get further in and see other parts adapted

Major stops would be at 4 or so cities in different types of ecosystems like dying savannah, salt flats, poisoned marshland (think the bog area in Mad Max Fury Road), and snowy wastes. As they help restore life, it calms a sandstorm in the center of the continent that becomes the final location.

Oh yeah, I've got an overall plan and arc for the campaign, and they would literally have a small village set up on a magically moving oasis that would provide the wood, but they need to find and recruit craftsmen to refine and work it into something useable.

I really appreciate the heads up! I had been pulling a bit from Dark Sun as inspiration as well so I'll be ok, though I did want my world to have a bit more hope pushing through it as they restored life to it. I had also wanted to flavor it so better gear was made of magic wood rather than metals

This might work really well for a campaign setting I've wanted to do for a while, where the party travels across a wasteland with a magic oasis, building up the oasis and gaining new inhabitants, as they help restore life to the land and support communities they visit

I totally understand that, it's been really busy to try and play much for me and my partner as well, but a community focused Stardew Valley-y use of this system seems really nice. I could also easily see a campaign focused on a nomadic community for more locational variety..

It definitely makes sense for things like getting into other occupations and the requirements for magical occupations (like going from Initiate to Priest), especially if you start a characters younger and closer to 15 as suggested.

I can definitely understand some division and even not being through all the books yet I'm seeing it in this. I feel like the best campaigns to use this for would be something community focused, developing and protecting your home or settlement over a long period of time, with quests to that end...

This is part of what got me interested in the system, too. I'm not familiar with too many ttrpgs that take the "use a skill to improve it" approach with no overall levels. Makes me think of things like early Elder Scrolls or Meridian 59

At least since using a skill can give you a check to improve it, but it says you need about a week of downtime to roll to see if you do improve, with only one check possible per skill per break. But it does add 1d6 to the skill if you do improve.

It's interesting the system does almost seem to encourage longer term adventures with the way occupations work and contribute to skill development, at least as a wide net Using skills is definitely a faster way to level them up, but it sort of ends up being per adventure/quest you get the chance
