In 1932, several sheep were found dead and exsanguinated in Arizona. Their blood was drained through three unexplained punctures. A photograph of the predator was taken by a park ranger. Officially explained as a mangy dog, some yet claim it is an image of the Chupacabras.

The Pesadiellu is one of many frightening beings said to cause nightmares. This creature is said to press down on its victims chest, suffocating them in their sleep.

A man sleeps while a strange creature floats atop him, pressing his hands deep into the mans chest. The creature has a human skull for a head, rows of horns down its back, monkeys feet, and wears a flower crown. Surrounding the creature are small ghosts, fairies playing bagpipes (specifically the Gaita Asturiana), little winged serpents (Cuelebre), and sea bunnies. "Architectural neoplasm" is a phenomenon where buildings, without apparent cause, start spreading outwards uncontrollably. If the growth is not quickly excised, it destroys the surrounding environment. While initially rare, this is starting to happen frequently to data center construction projects.

A green and serene valley is being overtaken by a gigantic, nearly organic looking building. It has flat ceilings and rows of ventilators like those of data centers, and it juts out at strange angles to cover the land around it. The terrain below it is becoming dry and barren.

This cetacean carcass was found during a seafloor expedition near Puerto Rico. Some have called it a "mermaid" owing to its strikingly humanoid features, but biologists claim its heavily decomposed state cannot offer a positive identification.

A mermaid-like skeleton lies at the bottom of the ocean. Myriad deep sea fishes, squids, and worms feast on its body.

Howard Stanley Crewe (1871–1919) was one of the first spirit photographers. These Spiritualists claimed to capture images of the deceased using tricks like double exposure. Though Crewe's images show the same signs of manipulation, his last portraits show something that still puzzles researchers (🧵)

The Llavanderes live in caves and hollow tree trunks and wash the blood-stained clothes of the dead. Some say they wash the clothes of the newly dead, others that they prepare the burial shrouds of those about to die, and others still say they drown those who refuse to aid them in their work.

In 1952, an abandoned shrine was found in the Wakayama prefecture of Japan. This temple, known as Rabu Shrine (羅父神宮), had signs of occupation as late as the 1920s. These documents, including postcards and manuscripts by the priest Sōkū (桑空), were recovered at the site:

An old faded postcard featuring a green-tinted black and white photograph. Near the entrance to a Shintoist shrine, a line of congregants kneel before an enormous insect larva, tall as at least two men. The larva twists into a regal pose, head clad with four imposing horns. It is covered in silken regalia, and holds a variety of amulets in its six limbs.
The postcard has a purple stamp atop it, proof of visit to Rabu Shrine as part of a pilgrimage. Below, stamped blue text reads:
ル祀ミ育神蟲テニ宮神父羅
(At Rabu Shrine, the insect God is raised and worshipped.)
