Ok I did a quick derivative analysis of this YouGov poll. Lots of people know that ICE has killed people, but lots don’t know! It appears that: -71% of Abolish ICE supporters have heard of recent ICE killings -60% of Abolish opponents have heard -only 45% of “don’t knows” have heard of ICE killings

This is appalling. Apparently some of the people ICE is arresting at airports have not violated ANY law; their period of lawful status has been extended, yet ICE appears to have old data and is arresting people based on stale information.
Kate Angustia, supervisory policy and practice counsel at the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a trade group, said it’s a “misconception” that the people being arrested at airports let their visas expire and therefore forfeited their legal status.

“Many of these folks are in a lawful period of authorized stay,” Augusta said. “This means that longstanding policy and practice has been, for decades, to allow these people to remain here as their legal processes continue to be processed by the government.”

This paper shows that immigration enforcement can _increase_ crime. Undocumented immigrants already have the lowest crime rate, but tough-on-immigration policy makes immigrants less likely to report crime. So immigration enforcement worsens the problem it was ostensibly meant to solve
Community Engagement and Public Safety: Evidence from
Crime Enforcement Targeting Immigrantst
By FELIPE GONÇALVES, ELISA JÁCOME, AND EMILY WEISBURST*
We study the role of victim reporting in the production of public safety.
We examine the Secure Communities program, a crime-reduction policy that involved police in detecting unauthorized immigrants and increased deportation fears in immigrant communities. We find that the policy reduced the likelihood that Hispanic victims report crimes to police and increased offending against Hispanics. The number of reported crimes is unchanged, masking these opposing effects. We show that reduced reporting drives the offending increase and provide the first elasticity of offending to victim reporting in the liter-ature, calculating that a 10 percent decline in reporting increases offending by 7.9 percent. IMPORTANT to know that the vast majority of Haitians with TPS entered the country legally at ports of entry, not illegally. The majority have NEVER violated the law. The admin stripped their status by breaking the law, but today SCOTUS says courts can't do anything about that.
Chart shows Haitian migrant encounters by entry method, January 2021 to January 2025, showing that after mid-2022, nearly every entry was legal.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court rules 6-3 in favor of the Trump admin on Temporary Protected Status, blocking the lawsuit on jurisdictional grounds, allowing DHS to strip over 350,000 people of legal status even though they utterly failed to follow the required legal procedures.
MULLIN v. DOE
Syllabus
that the termination of Haiti’s TPS designation violated the constitutional right to equal protection because it was motivated by race. The
District Court granted interim relief, and a divided D. C. Circuit panel
declined to issue a stay. The Government sought a stay and a writ of
certiorari before judgment in both cases. This Court granted review,
consolidated the cases, and deferred ruling on the stay applications.
Held:
1. The TPS statute bars judicial review of non-constitutional claims.
Pp. 12–18.
(a) Section 1254a(b)(5)(A) provides that “[t]here is no judicial review
of any determination of the [Secretary of Homeland Security] with respect to the designation, or termination or extension of a designation,
of a foreign state.” The term “determination” may mean either an individual decision or the process leading to a decision. Under either
understanding, §1254a(b)(5)(A) bars all of respondents’ non-constitutional claims. Further, the phrase “with respect to” “generally has a
broadening effect, ensuring that the scope of a provision covers not
only its subject but also matters relating to that subject.” Patel v. Garland, 596 U. S. 328, 339 (internal quotation marks omitted). Pp. 12–

Defendants.
PLAINTIFFS' MOTION FOR AN ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE
After a temporary restraining order narrowly thwarted the government's secret, middle-of-
the-night attempt to expel unaccompanied Guatemalan children from the United States over Labor
Day weekend, this Court certified a provisional class of certain Guatemalan children who are or
will be in the custody of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other Defendants and
enjoined Defendants from "transferring, repatriating, removing, or otherwise facilitating the transport" of class members from the United States. Defendants declined to appeal that injunction
and it remains in place while this matter proceeds to final judgment. But Plaintiffs have learned that Defendants are engaged in a practice that openly flouts the plain text of the Court's injunction
and the statutory protections guaranteed by the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act
(TVPRA). Specifically, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents are returning
unaccompanied children from noncontiguous countries, including class members, to their home
countries within 72 hours of entering government custody, typically before they can be transferred

To our community,
Due to recent and unforeseen circumstances, The Potter's House DC (PHDC) will be closed until further notice. This closure includes the cafe and bookstore's normal operating hours, as well as all public and private events at PHDC.
As many of you may know, we scheduled a temporary break during the month of January to update many of our administrative systems, train our staff with updated guidance, and hire additional staff to help us expand our ability to operate sustainably as a nonprofit organization.
When we came to work on January 1, 2026, we fully believed that this plan would be put into action.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional! ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.
The Gravamen of the Disclosure

4. The gravamen of the disclosure is as follows:
a. By memorandum dated May 12, 2025 (“the May 12 Memo”), Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons authorizes ICE agents to forcibly enter into certain people’s homes without a judicial warrant, consent, or an emergency.

b. Specifically, in the May 12 Memo, the Acting ICE Director authorized ICE Agents to rely on Form I-205 (which is not a judicial warrant) to enter the residence of an alien subject to a final order of deportation, without consent, including by “a necessary and reasonable amount of force.”2c. While addressed to “All ICE Personnel,” in practice the May 12 Memo has not been formally distributed to all personnel. Instead, the May 12 Memo has been provided to select DHS officials who are then directed to verbally brief the new policy for action. Those supervisors then show the Memo to some employees, like our clients, and direct them to read the Memo and return it to the supervisor.
