Special Citations and Awards

Julie K. Brown
A special citation is awarded to Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brown for her groundbreaking reporting in 2017 and 2018 that exposed Jeffrey Epstein's systematic abuse of young women, the justice system that protected him, and, over time, his powerful network of associates and enablers.
Her Perversion of Justice series, published nearly a decade ago, revealed how prosecutors shielded Epstein from federal sex trafficking charges when he was first accused of abusing young women. She went on to document and give voice to the scores of victims who had been groomed and abused by him and others in his circle. Her work, and the release of the government's Epstein files, continue to reverberate around the world.

By 2060, China will only be using fossil fuels for 9% of its electricity generation. 50% of total generation will be solar, 30% will be wind. That means China is not only killing big oil but also big coal. Renewables are currently outpacing demand growth so they will be retiring old plants from now

A chart from Our World In Data, showing the shift away from coal power in the UK - nearly 70% of electricity production in the late 1980s, to less than 0.1% in 2025.

Protesters rally across US after Iran strikes and reports of Khamenei killing
Crowds gather in DC, New York and beyond to denounce Trump’s Iran strikes as an illegal act of war As news reports circulated that Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, had been killed in US and Israeli airstrikes on Tehran, anti-war protesters gathered across the United States, including outside the White House and in New York’s Times Square to voice opposition to US military involvement in the region. “It wasn’t sanctioned by Congress, so what Trump is doing is on his own terms, it’s making him a fascist and it’s making the country into a fascist state,” said Sue Johnson, a protester.
