OpenAl really wants you to believe that they're doing everything they possibly can do and that securing sufficiently powerful Al systems is borderline impossible. The latter is something I'm happy to assume is true, but we have no way of knowing if current Al systems are anywhere near
that level because the former is extremely untrue.

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

the thing about impeaching Vought is that it will ruin his life. pull his kids and wife in for sixteen hour depositions. refer them all for perjury. scream in his face. when you're done, if it didn't work, do it again.

Three panel comic. An upset young woman sits at an outdoor cafe table. She says earnestly to her boyfriend, “it’s like you don’t even listen to me anymore…” Panel 2: Her boyfriend, sitting across from her at the table, is making a strained, distracted expression. He says, “babe, I’m sorry— I just—“ Panel 3: he continues, “there is something so insane behind you right now. Behind his annoyed-looking girlfriend, there is a monkey in sunglasses and a backwards cap sitting side-saddle on a parked motorbike.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: underwater ocean camera view of a whale fall on the sea floor, with various bottom feeders and weird fishes crawling around the decomposing remains. Off panel, someone says, “hang on a second…” Panel 2: the speaker is a member of a marine biologist crew, remotely viewing the video footage from a computer monitor. The biologist is leaning against his colleague’s chair. He continues, “pan the camera back.” Panel 3: Back underwater, the POV shifts to the other end of the whale carcass. There’s a large spider crab with a standing just off to the side. It has a human face in a neutral expression, and is wearing glasses. The marine biologist says, “I think I went to high school with that guy.”

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a high school basketball game. The home team is down 9 points, and some players are looking discouraged on the bench. The coach points to a player just out of frame and says, “flippers, you’re in!” Panel 2: the away team attempts a deep 2-point shot, possibly to beat the buzzer, which is blocked by Flippers, a whale who doesn’t even have his arms up. Panel 3: the game ends and the home team excitedly crowd around Flippers, who won them the game. A player from the away team looks stunned, with his hands on his head.

actually, AI is really good for manipulating any abstraction layer where you know at a conceptual level how it relates to the one you understand, but where the toolkit you have available at your abstraction layer does not have an appropriate off-the-shelf solution.
