Discworld QOTD, from The Wee Free Men
The stories never said why she was wicked. It was enough to be an old woman, enough to be all alone, enough to look strange because you have no teeth. It was enough to be called a witch. If it came to that, the book never gave you the evidence of anything. It talked about "a handsome prince"... was he really, or was it just because he was a prince that people called handsome? As for "a girl who was as beautiful as the day was long"... well, which day? In midwinter it hardly ever got light! The stories don't want you to think, they just wanted you to believe what you were told...

We *can* all do something (not spark wildfires, for example). But asking individual citizens to solve systemic problems is peak neo-liberalism. Not watering our gardens isn’t going to fix pipes or build reservoirs. Government needs to do more than ban barbecues and send scary alerts. NOW.

Back in 1588, everyone still knew that book trees grow better when there's music around, and when you speak to them. Attention and house organ music were the key.
This image from 1588 shows a tree with big bound books grewing instead of fruits. This tree starts in a house organ that is played from a well-dressed woman and a man. The image of part of. abook praising the art of making books, you may find it here if you fancy: http://diglib.hab.de/drucke/uh-20/start.htm

Far beyond 'sex slaves' and 'sex trafficking' which are already demonstrably bad. But the sheer enormity of what the elites quite literally got away with is an evil that can barely be comprehended. The systemic coverup for their evils and how they enabled that It's something we need to reckon with

I never understood the practice, it's literally giving up your identity to indicate your new owner. Recently heard a historian describe marriage (in the ancient world) as "marriage is a contract between a husband and a father." About sums it up.

"What do you mean it's Monday already?" #MondayMotivation
A Robin stands on a patch of grass, its bright orange-red chest puffed out and head tilted slightly, as if caught completely off guard. Its wide-eyed stare and bewildered open beak suggest confusion—like someone who’s just woken up to realise it’s Monday already. A comical and relatable moment, perfectly capturing that “wait, what?!” feeling we all know too well.
