DOD has released the name of the SEAL Team 6 operation in Nigeria last spring where they killed an ISIS-West Africa emir, and it is “Galavinic Cobra” It appears that “galavinic” is not a real word, but is an occasionally recurring misspelling of “galvanic” (with some instances on old gun forums)

The Naval Academy faculty has been roughly 50% civilian and 50% military since its founding in 1845. I was a Chemistry major (1972) and part of the military faculty as a Chemistry instructor from 1975-1978. Civilian profs were the core and foundation of the department.

Statement from Mayor Cantelmo on Campus Sexual Violence & Future Community Safety
Late last week, I learned of the heinous and sickening allegations made against the Cornell students who, according to a former undergraduate student identified as Jane Doc, drugged and brutally raped her at the Chi Phi fraternity house. Despite the severity of these crimes, Cornell University administrators and police failed to contact or coordinate any response with the Ithaca Police Department. Furthermore, the University failed to hold the perpetrators to account. This is a miscarriage of justice and continues to pose a significant threat to students and residents who may be victimized at unsafe and under-monitored on- or off-campus student events.
Given this appalling response from university administration, I have no choice but to declare a new policy directive and corresponding Common Council resolution, implementing an immediate moratorium on all student event and special event permits, including, but not limited to Greek life and other student group gatherings, until such time that the University conducts an accounting of its protocols to prevent and prosecute crimes of sexual violence and publicly releases new standards and practices to keep our community safe.

This memo is incoherent. Curriculum at the service academies, as well as all the PME school houses, is dictated by congressional mandates, Service requirements, & the Officer Military Education Program (OPMEP) & enlisted equivalent. The schools have to regularly demonstrate they're in compliance.
