Hay Fever at Wyndham’s Theatre - I’m a massive Christine Baranski fan from her tv and film work and she just eats up the stage in this. A perfect vehicle for her and the rest of the cast, esp Ash Hunter, are all great. Huge fun from start to finish. #London #LondonTheatre

The RNLI is the closest you will ever get to actual Batman. When rescue is visibly, viscerally, obviously impossible; when the water is a smothering, thundering black wall and the wind is screaming straight from Hell; when you are absolutely going to die: someone’s hand pulls you out and you don’t.

The power of UBI is not about the money as much as the unconditionality. It's certainty in an uncertain world. We do this with roads. You just know the road isn't going to get "creative". It's just going to be a solid floor you can drive on. Basic income is a highway upgrade for people.

The 10th century Norwegian skald Eyvindr Finnsson used "eel heaven" (álhimins) as a kenning for ice, describing people from Iceland as álhimins lendingar (eel-heaven's-landers). So: as you wander through the world, remember that we are angels to eels. Act accordingly. 🧪🗃️
Meme. Photograph of a person standing on the ice of a frozen lake, under a purple sky. The sun seems to be either setting or rising in the distance, behind the trees. The figure is standing still, looking away from the camera with their hands in their pockets. There is a worrisome area of lighter ice just beneath them, where their weight is registering in the ice. There are also several fault lines in the ice, including one running between the figure's feet. This picture makes me slightly uneasy for the figure's safety.

Why is this person standing alone, in peril, on the ice? The answer is unknown, but I like to think that this isn't a person at all, but rather is the personification of Night. They are walking out into the frozen world to challenge the rising sun to a battle of wits, with the winner to control the space of the day. I assume this happens every morning and evening; an endless game of riddles between two ancient foes.

Meme text reads:
"Everyone needs
a guardian angeel"

In the Country of Last Things by Paul Auster - Written long before The Road, I found this tale of post-apocalyptic chaos much more compelling. Its surreal world-building and constantly shifting sense of reality is anchored by Auster’s warm and always brilliant way with characters. 💙📚 #Booksky
First page of In the Country of Last Things by Paul Auster, which begins “These are the last things, she wrote. One by one they disappear and never come back. I can tell you of the ones I have seen, of the ones that are no more, but I doubt there will be time. It is all happening too fast now, and I cannot keep up.”
