I really think with G&E she suddenly realised she only had a few pages left, or a weekend left before it was due, whereas the book needed another few chapters to unfold, so she just banged it down. It may have been time, because there's a lot of standing about in fields that could have been trimmed.

Precisely so. Lewis died in 1963, so he's still in copyright I think. He deserves better.

Besides the fiction, @bluejo.eurosky.social's monthly reading list is always my favorite part of Reactor, and I wish more authors would do short write-ups of books and stories they've read. So interesting and varied!

It turns out a 🍆 harvest is too rude for bluesky censors. However have no fear here are two naked people jousting on giant snails instead.
We are looking at a medieval illustration of two figures sat on top of large snails. They are holding large banners and appear to be jousting.

Owl of the Day: Eurasian Pygmy-Owl 📷 Ian Davies
Photo of owl perched on fir tree branch, description from ebird: ‘Tiny, almost sparrow-sized, owl of coniferous and mixed forests. Note staring golden eyes, white eyebrows, and fine pale spotting on the crown. Most active around dusk and dawn, but can be seen hunting in the daytime as well. Sometimes perches atop conifers, but more often rather inconspicuous; can be quite bold when encountered. Song is a varied series of whistled toots, usually given around dawn and dusk and easily imitated.’

The acid test for me is a simple one: Has my professional and/or creative life benefited in any material way from "AI," and very specifically generative "AI"? No, it hasn't. Has it been negatively impacted by the same? Yup, in a whole bunch of ways. My professional life is worse now for it.
