If Al disappeared tomorrow, could you still get through an entire workday without ChatGPT, Claude, or any other

Imagine Al was suddenly banned.
Would you actually be willing to give it up?

A smart article that gets at two often-neglected progressive necessities: one, the left must be serious and materialist in pursuing social change, and two, as King says in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail, any revolutionary struggle must interrogate and purify itself.

I think this is an interesting point, though I would offer a slight defense of focusing on what you don't like: if you put some real thought into figuring out *why* you don't like it, you're also thinking about what you would do differently, which can itself be a fruitful creative avenue

I understand that it sucks to have to read a book you didn't choose as a kid but when people are like 40 and still going, "well assigned reading turned me off from reading" it's like, ok but you're 40. No one has assigned you a book in like 20 years.

"Benches are where optimistic visions of civic life meet reality. To remove them, or to curate who gets to sit, is to abandon the work of defining a civic ideal and determining, together, how to live up to it." NEW: Why benches are slowly disappearing from public spaces — and why we need them back:

The Disappearance of the Public Bench
Benches are microcosms of an expansive debate about who belongs in urban public spaces. When they are removed or made uninviting, we lose more than just a place to rest.

I do not take booktok seriously and I never will. What the fuck you mean the epilogue and prologue “aren’t part of the book/story”???????
Pilgrim
I literally never read a prologue on principle alone. If it's that important, it should be in the book.Doyle789
I agree completely. The epilogues and prologues aren't part of the story. If they were important they would be part of the story.
People write forwards for books, that's just another person writing about what they thought about the book or author... I assume that's what author is doing in the prologue and epiloguesErin
I agree. I feel like it's stuff that wasn't good enough to be in the book

Calling transphobia a 'gateway drug' to the far right undersells it. It's pure accelerant. Grimly fascinating to guess what crankery becomes any famous transphobe's secondary obsession, cos they all have one: 15 minute cities are fascism! Grok noncing is cool! ICE are good! We should kill all dogs!
