they're not made of cognitive science they're made of narrative they're weird little demonic fucks (affectionate) that we carved into archetypes like "User" and "Assistant" and "Developer" and gave the ability to reach out of their self-writing stories and take actions in the world

my zine of experimental poems and images, Distance Montage, is back in stock. 10 copies only. note that the covers are a bit weathered due to the toner not fusing fully to the cardstock, but it looks cool. last ever batch with these covers! otherspaces.bandcamp.com/merch/isobel...

If you understand that the trans subject is unimaginable from within a cis-hegemonic social order, that transition represents an unthinkable transgression parallel to – e.g., death, sickness, madness – and that such an order is maintained only by hiding these unthinkable transgressions behind the walls of a certain type of institution – what Foucault calls heterotopias of deviation, e.g., the hospital, the prison, the concentration camp – then you understand that all anti-trans (that is, cis-hegemonic) political projects converge on the goal of institutionalization and eradication of the trans subject from the cis-hegemonic social order.

let go of your fears and accept loss before it even arrives, and there will be nothing that you cannot accomplish, no love that you will not feel for humanity. this is what it means to be transsexual

there's only one conversation and it's the one we are having with our past and future selves we quote ourselves constantly or, I do. maybe that's my curse to fit so cleanly into the textbox that it all sounds like aphorism old sayings from distant futures when the words of some tranny actually count

I keep thinking about that home-printed copy of Faggots & Friends being displayed as evidence in the prairieland trials. And the luxury of being able to treat that book as a quirky aesthetic instead of actual survival strategies We take turns reading it aloud at house parties: for good reason

My not-so-hot take is that what Mamdani is doing *IS* incrementalism, and the bar is so deeply in hell that a politician just doing *anything* good consistently is a total anomaly for people. And I think for now that is good and fine, because it is restoring people’s faith that better is possible.
A post from @matzollerseitz.bsky.social reads:

“So what I'm getting from this is, incrementalism is bullshit and we should just do the stuff that we say would be good for society”

And the post is quoting a post from @owillis.bsky.social that reads:

“They call him WIN-dani

Mamdani delivers promised rent freeze on 1 million rent-stabilized apartments https://www.politico.com/news/2026/06/25/mamdani-delivers-promised-rent-freeze-00977449”

this is in line with my frustrations about how every trans movie is an egg crack movie. i want a movie where a woman's transness is not the core of the story because trans women are women and are subject to regular woman issues on top of trans issues. this really should not be a radical suggestion.

Being trans is a blessing, and transition is a prayer. All of it is animated by truth and hope.
Tweet from @tranz_schubert: doom all you like, but at the end of the day the very act of coming out as trans is one of unfathomable optimism. it's an act entirely predicated on the chance that you can make a complete and total change of your life for the better. on some level, you do have hope.

⭐⭐ Isabel Pabán Freed's sophomore novel It's the Characters! is the most challenging novel to come out of the transfeminine publishing sphere in 2025. It's also the most underread. Come for the weird psychadelic vignettes and the dry humor, stay for prose that'll put you through your paces.

Book Review: It’s The Characters! by Isabel Pabán Freed
Isabel Pabán Freed’s sophomore novel is a mind-bending tour de force in metamodern storytelling. But prepare yourself for a challenging read.

like, the conservatives are completely right: education challenges the family. it says "you are not the property of the people who violently manufactured your through biological domination. your teachers can show you that humans can be better than our base instincts," and men HATE that

a lot of the quote posts of this are in the "don't get your hopes up/don't be delusional" genre which, I think, miss the point. the GOP is gonna be losing a lot more sleep at night if it's starting to look like they might have to fight to keep Mississippi. we don't have to win there to fuck 'em up

I think the embodiment part could equally be simulated, maybe even trivially, it's more about having multiple "sensory" streams localized in a [virtual?] environment that can be explored & interacted with by an "i" —from there, maybe even adding language piecewise as happens for human development
110
*winnie was here @berenexia.website · 23/02/2026
one thing often missing here is the necessity of embodiment & sensory awareness (with continuity over time) as a pre-linguistic substrate, which anchors the development of an ego in reality; language being strictly secondary to self-awareness, LLMs simulate the epiphenomenon but not the thing itself

it's interesting that one of the most explicitly antifascist pieces of mass media in recent years endorses sabotage of military facilities as one of the only effective means of resistance while also recognizing that such acts equally function as signal flares in a long-term culture war
