In Issue Three! DJ impresario Josh Cheon (@darkentries.bsky.social) and punk polymath Brontez Purnell discuss growing up goth, San Francisco's dance parties, Dolores Park meet-cutes, archiving Patrick Cowley’s gay porn soundtracks, and maintaining the creative drive deep into their careers.
Pink background overlaid with text: "I would take the bus into New York by myself. Sometimes I would drag my girlfriends ... I just wanted someone to dance with and be there. And I would make them dress up, because they weren't goths. They played softball, but l'd be like, here, wear black and put on these fishnets."
JOSH CHEON IN CONVERSATION ISSUE THREEPink background overlaid with text: "Familiarity breeds both comfort and contempt but, I don't know, I have seen a fair share of the world at this point and I think that wherever one lives we are all picking our poison. I have decided for better or worse, this place is home."

By way of A Streetcar Named Desire and The Simpsons, Beatrice Kilat (@beatrick.bsky.social) weighs the risks and chances for love in her debut column: “Ask Bea.” She also considers the chihuahua. To read SOME GOOD ADVICE, order Issue Two here: sfrw.square.site/product/issu...
Tomato pink background with black outlined rectangles and black and blue text within:
Williams kept waiting to wake up feeling different and instead kept waking up as himself. In his wigged-out state, he drank and ate too much, behaved poorly, leaned into cynicism, withdrew from friends and the world at large.
Taunted by the now frictionless experience of his success, he left his home and found friction out in the world. You know, the joys and bothers and ‘stuff’ that happens when we let other people into our lives. Which is what reminded me of you.
Beatrice Kilat, Ask Bea
Do you need help? Ask Bea. Bea’s areas of expertise (ongoing): dogs money life, death closet space ceramics utensils kitchens time management having a drink putting it down want vs. need upkeep (general)

Why does San Francisco dress like that? Beatrice Kilat (@beatrick.bsky.social) knows, and in “Everybody in Blundstones”—a sharp, gestural, historicizing, and fond work of observation that conjures a distinct image of the city—she explains. We think you’ll recognize this place.
Fanned cards outlined in green over a pink background. Text reads: You think you just decided to wear slip-on leather workboots one summer? You exist in the context of … well, you know. It started here. Image in San Francisco is always being crafted, honed, and made to express something—even the hippies had a tailor.

Contributors to our first issue write about leaving the Bay and coming back; know why SF dresses like that; describe the shape of tennis; check in from abroad; review the new Susan Stryker; push against the rectangle in public space; and discuss what it's like here, beneath the narratives. And more!

finally a reasonable take
Liberals and the left do not need the right to
be online in the way that the right needs
liberals and the left. The nature of reactionary
politics demands constant confrontations-
literal reactions- to the left. People like Rufo
would have a substantially harder time trying
to influence opinions on a platform without
liberals. "Triggering the libs" sounds like a
joke, but it is often essential for segments of
the right. This explains the popularity of some
X accounts with millions of followers, such as
Libs of TikTok, whose purpose is to troll
liberals.
The more liberals leave X, the less value it
offers to the right, both in terms of cultural
relevance and in opportunities for trolling.
