Could a German economist fix the RBA’s inflation problem?
As the RBA admits interest rates are its only tool for managing inflation, alternative models propose dealing with supply shocks through price caps and strategic reserves.

The Albanese government will contract the same private "human service" companies, the same orgs who are currently being accused of milking the scheme, to test how disabled people really are... in their own homes. The money always flows to their mates, not the people who need it.
A screenshot from an article in the Australian that says,

“We’re going to take a functional capacity approach, it really won’t matter what condition or disability you have. You will be assessed through a program or through an assessment process that applies equally across the scheme,” Mr Butler told Sky News on Sunday.

“But obviously, given that people with autism are such a big part of the scheme’s population, you’d expect them to be a reasonably substantial part of that 160,000. But there will be representation, probably pretty proportional.”

The official who headed Australia's Home Affairs department acted so recklessly and improperly, particularly in his secret dealings with a lobbyist and Liberal Party powerbroker, that it would be very difficult for him to ever work in the public service again.
That is among a series of damaging findings contained in a confidential report that led to the sacking of Michael Pezzullo as Home Affairs secretary in late 2023 but which the government declined to release at the time.

I thought about this a lot when the whole royal commission debate kicked off at the start of the year. (by @arielbogle.bsky.social) www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...
The significance of the Christchurch terrorist’s roots in Australia are still not properly recognised or addressed, said Jabri Markwell, even as the Muslim community continues to be painted by politicians and others in positions of power as a group “to fear or hate”.

“He was socialised in his attitudes growing up in Australia,” she said. “A lot of his online activity was in Australia. A lot of the hate that he developed happened in Australia. Those views are not shaped in a few weeks, they are shaped over years.

“There has been no accountability since that horrible day for the role that official language had in that Australian’s radicalisation.”
