🇺🇸🇮🇷 US-IRAN NEGOTIATIONS LATEST

🔸President Trump said Monday his team spoke with mediators working to end the war with Iran, but offered no details. "We're going to win. As far as I'm concerned, it's going to be one way or the other. It's going to go pretty quickly," he told reporters in the Oval Office, adding that more strikes before the midterms were also "possible."

🔸 Hours later, Trump denied an Axios report, citing a US official, that he was willing to offer Iran sanctions relief and frozen funds for "concrete progress on nuclear." "I offered them NOTHING!" he wrote, calling the story a "HOAX."

🔸 Despite his public rejection of Iran's seven-day plan, the US has not formally rejected it, three officials told the AP. Mediators are drafting a deal to reopen Hormuz, lift the US blockade, and then remove sanctions. One official told the AP the US is seeking nuclear concessions, including access for inspectors, which Axios has also reported.

🔸 Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met a Qatari mediator in New York on Monday. "They had some ideas, and we held discussions that they will also raise with the US side," he told state news agency IRNA, adding he hoped for Washington's final response by Tuesday. He flew back to Tehran rather than wait: "The Qataris know how to reach us whenever they have the response."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrapped up her upstate New York tour in Syracuse on Monday, meeting Mayor Sharon Owens and local Democratic and Working Families Party members on how to get infrequent voters to the polls, per CNY Central.

The swing also took her to Buffalo and Ithaca, where she held a packed "Students vs. Billionaires" town hall at Cornell, and campaigned with battleground Rep. Josh Riley.

New York "has become increasingly relevant to whether we have a majority or not in the House," she told The New York Times. The tour has also fueled speculation about a 2028 Senate or Presidential run. "I love Syracuse," the Bronx native told reporters.

The list of sanctioned individuals features prominent politicians including a sitting Senator with the left-wing Historic Pact in Colombia, and the sitting Attorney-General of Bolivia, who they link to "narcoterrorism" and "corruption."

The U.S. stands with fellow Shield participants Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru as we deliver on our commitment to defend democratically elected governments against the corrupt and narcoterrorist networks that seek to undermine it. Today the U.S. is taking steps to impose new visa restrictions on corrupt actors in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru who threaten democratically elected governments across our region, such as designating Bolivia’s Attorney General Roger Mariaca for corruption. Releases have slowed to a trickle. Just 1.8 million barrels have left the reserve in September, the smallest monthly total since the drawdown began in March and down from 19.2 million in August.

The US has released 131.6 million barrels since March in response to the Hormuz closure, loaned to companies that must return it with premium barrels. The Trump administration pledged 172 million barrels but has contracted only 133.5 million so far.

"Iran's position has not changed at all," he told IRNA after meeting Qatari mediators in New York, according to a translation by Iran Nuances. "Current discussions concern the Strait of Hormuz, and reopening it remains conditional."

He said Qatar would present ideas for meeting Iran's terms to the US, "hoping for a response by tomorrow," and that he was returning to Tehran, where "decisions will be made" once an answer arrives.

💢 Israeli attacks killed a pregnant woman and at least one other Palestinian, and wounded others, including children, across Gaza from Monday into early Tuesday, as attacks continued despite the ceasefire.

➤ Amal Khaled al-Ajla was killed and her husband critically wounded when Israeli forces shelled their home on al-Nafaq Street in Gaza City around midday Monday, Shehab News reported. Local accounts said she was pregnant.

➤ An Israeli drone struck near the desalination room at Al-Sawarha School, west of Camp 2 and south of Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, wounding several people, according to Shehab.

➤ At around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, an Israeli strike hit a residential apartment in Gaza City's Al-Nasr neighborhood and set it on fire. Palestinian journalists reported that at least one person was killed, with remains recovered in pieces. Others were wounded, including children taken to al-Shifa Medical Complex.

🔺 Rising oil flows through Hormuz don't mean Iran has lost its leverage, argues sanctions expert Esfandyar Batmanghelidj of the London-based Bourse & Bazaar Foundation, rebutting claims Iran has "lost control" of the strait.

Iran retains "undiminished capabilities" to strike Gulf oil infrastructure, he wrote, and could if Trump won't take a diplomatic off-ramp, as with the 2019 attacks on Saudi Aramco's Abqaiq and Khurais facilities, which came when Iran was exporting no oil.

"The strait isn't really Iran's principal source of leverage. It never was," he wrote. Its strikes on US bases and Gulf cities were "far more consequential" but downplayed, since the US couldn't stop them. The real issue is "the failure of U.S. security guarantees over the entirety of the Gulf."

Someone sent me this analysis and asked me what I think…

Yes, there is more oil flowing through the strait—with the exception of Iranian oil. But people misunderstand the issue of control of the Strait of Hormuz and overstate its importance in the positioning of Iran, the Gulf, and the U.S. as the war drags on. Specifically, this analysis on oil export volumes and its impact on negotiation positions overlooks two more important factors.

First, Iran may not be able to disrupt energy flows as effectively as in the early stage of the war, but it retains undiminished capabilities to destroy stocks, by which I mean the underlying production infrastructure, whether upstream or downstream.

Second, the assessment fails to consider that Iran can still choose to escalate by hitting these production targets if it determines that Trump isn’t feeling enough pain to take the diplomatic off-ramps being put in front of him. Importantly, we know what happens when Iran is exporting no oil and there is no realistic pathway for diplomacy—we saw it in the Abqaiq and Khurrais attacks on Aramco facilities in 2019.
So while the risk premium around oil flows may seem tolerable for Trump, the threats to energy production infrastructure the Gulf remain significant, which is exactly why regional countries are still trying to mediate a return to a durable ceasefire and diplomatic agreement. Trump too, is erratic, and could give cause to Iran to escalate in this way through his own fixation on “winning” the war. Markets are able to price this, especially not when traders are so fixated on short-term price action.

In this respect, the strait isn’t really Iran’s principle source of leverage. It never was! The attacks on U.S. bases and Gulf cities and infrastructure were far more consequential, but these dimensions of the conflict were downplayed because of what it would mean to acknowledge that Iran has such dangerous capabilities that the U.S. was unable to mitigate or degrade during the entirety of the fighting.

Sure, the U.S. navy can escort vessels (at great cost) and keep oil flowing. But the more fundamental issue of the failure of U.S. security guarantees over the entirety of the Gulf remains unresolved, and this is what provides Iran leverage in the negotiations.

Iran did not wage a scorched earth campaign—but it may yet do so if the current situation persists for too long. That is what everyone who actually follows this region and its dynamics is worried about.

⭕️ 🇮🇷 Iran filed a formal complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organization over U.S. flight restrictions and is pursuing the restoration of routes suspended by several countries.

🔸 Iran’s CAO chief told state media Iran is working through diplomatic and legal channels to restore flights, including to Baghdad and Najaf, with Najaf expected to resume services “in the coming days.”

🔸 The U.S. sanctioned 27 Iranian airlines on September 8 and threatened secondary sanctions against airports and companies providing Iranian aircraft with fuel, landing services or ticket sales. Oman and the UAE have since suspended Iranian flights, while four Iraqi airports have halted them.

🔸 Iraq’s ambassador to Iran said Monday that Najaf airport would resume Iranian flights within 24 hours, adding that Iraq had not ordered flights suspended but foreign ground-service companies had stopped servicing Iranian aircraft.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Eight U.S. Marines were injured in an Iranian anti-ship cruise missile attack on a vessel they were operating aboard in the Strait of Hormuz on September 14, NBC reported.

➤ The Marines suffered smoke inhalation and possible traumatic brain injuries, including concussion symptoms such as headaches, but returned to duty soon afterward. Officials declined to identify the type of vessel involved but said it was not a U.S. Navy ship.

➤ The Pentagon’s Defense Casualty Analysis System added the eight Marines to its casualty count nearly ten days after the attack. The database now records 861 U.S. service members injured in the war with Iran.

➤ Iran claimed it struck 19 ships in the Strait of Hormuz over the past two nights. Iranian officials said any ship crossing without authorization will face an armed response.

🚨Gulf oil exports top 20 million barrels a day for the first time since the war began

Oil exports from the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman climbed above 20 million barrels a day on a 7-day average this week, according to preliminary Kpler data. The figure covers Strait of Hormuz transits plus loadings at Fujairah and Oman, and excludes Red Sea and shipments through other bypasses.

Saudi Arabia is driving much of the rebound. Its exports reached 5.4 million b/d in September, up nearly 3 million from August, though still about 1 million below September 2025.

The surge came the same day Trump rejected Iran's offer to reopen Hormuz within seven days. "I reject their proposal… Massive amounts of oil” has been leaving the Strait of Hormuz, he said Saturday.

A huge full circle for me!

As a teenager, I stood in the streets and protested after the horrific hellish bombings on bus line 18 in Jerusalem. Dozens of innocent people were murdered, and entire families were destroyed.

About two weeks ago, I arrived at the prison and came face to face with the arch-terrorist Hassan Salameh - one of Hamas's top leaders, friend and partner of Yehiya Sinwar may his name be erased, who was sent by the tyrant Muhammad Deif may his name be erased to Judea and Samaria to organize those same bus bombings.

I told him that the boy who protested in the streets back then is today the Minister of National Security, and I looked the devil in the eyes. He trembled and was terrified - and he has good reason to be.

As Minister of National Security, I led a policy that turned his life into hell. And with God's help, as Defense Minister, I will act to ensure that murderer terrorists like him are put to death, and I will advance the immigration policy from Gaza and from Judea and Samaria.

🔺 Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei quotes Uni. of Chicago political scientist Prof. Robert Pape in a new written message marking “Sacred Defense Week,” the anniversary of Iraq's 1980 invasion of Iran, & the 2nd anniversary of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah's killing on Telegram Mon. Key...
Key Highlights:

🔸 US forces "don't come further than the Arabian Sea" because of "painful blows" from Iranian fighters and the "guardians of the Strait of Hormuz," he wrote, predicting that "the Arabian Sea too will soon empty itself of them."

🔸 The "dominating aggressors themselves" now "seek shelter" from Iranian fighters and "raise their hands in pleading to abandon the war," he said. "Today some consider us the world's fourth superpower," he said, citing
@ProfessorPape
’s argument, but added that "by divine calculation" Iran is actually "the first power in the world."

🔸 He said Iranians have filled squares and streets for seven months, and that more than 30 million have declared their readiness to sacrifice their lives. When a new registration opened, over 500,000 filled the required capacity within 100 minutes, with "armed readiness" declared nationwide.

🔸Every segment of society, he said, is insisting on "preserving the blessed Strait of Hormuz," and women have surpassed men "in some arenas of courageous presence."

🔸 Contrasting the present with the Shah's era, when foreign ambassadors dictated policy, and the 1953 US-backed coup, he declared that the days "our enemy longs to return to" are gone and "will never be repeated."

🔸 He mourned Ayatollah Khomeini and his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whom he called a martyr, and said the Islamic Republic, which rose "like a phoenix" from the 1980s war, has grown so large after "two recent imposed wars" that "the shadow of its flight falls over enemy lands."
🔸 He called Hezbollah’s late leader Nasrallah the greatest man to rise in the Levant after the prophets, praised his successor Naim Qassem, and said Lebanese figures relying on the "false promises" of the dominant powers will be remembered for "incompetence and perhaps even treason."

Khamenei has not yet appeared in public since succeeding his father, who was killed in US-Israeli strikes in February.

🇬🇧 🇸🇩 UK Foreign Secretary Miliband also pledged to apply the same principles of international law to Sudan, "the worst humanitarian crisis there is," promising to "use every diplomatic and political tool to address the suffering of its people."

Britain is the "penholder" on Sudan at the UN Security Council, meaning it drafts the Council's resolutions and statements on the war and leads negotiations over them.

He did not mention the UAE, a close UK partner that UN experts and rights groups have extensively documented arming the RSF, as it carries out mass rapes and genocide to assert control over land and resources in the country of over 50 million.

🇬🇧 "You were right," UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband told people outraged by the plight of Palestinians, in his first speech in the role at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool on Monday.

Calling the suffering "a stain on the conscience of the world," Miliband said Labour had "reset" its approach under new Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who replaced Keir Starmer. "We call out ethnic cleansing by the settler terrorists in the West Bank. We call out the evidence of war crimes in Gaza," he said, pledging to ban imports from illegal settlements and cut off British finance and services to them.

Critics say the rhetoric has outpaced action. The government has not suspended or revoked a single additional arms export licence for Israel since Miliband announced new restrictions on September 8, according to Declassified UK. Around 150 people were arrested outside the conference for holding placards reading "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action," which the government has proscribed as a “terrorist” group.

Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani rejected Israeli journalist Ronen Bergman's report that Qatar funded Hamas's armed wing, telling CNN "There is no single penny that has flowed into Gaza without the full coordination and consent of the United Nations and the Israeli government."

He said that was the case across "not only Netanyahu" but previous Israeli governments as well. He said Qatari money bought Israeli gas for Gaza's power plants and paid needy families and civil servants on lists pre-approved by Israeli security agencies.

🔸 In Rafah's al-Mawasi area, Israeli forces shot and killed 12-year-old Mohammed Saif al-Din al-Shakhreeti as he sat outside his family's displacement tent.

🔸 An Israeli drone strike on Jouls Street in central Nuseirat refugee camp killed one person.

🔸 Qusai Muammar Hillis died of wounds sustained in an Israeli strike on Gaza City weeks ago.

🔸 Israeli forces stationed east of Deir al-Balah shot and wounded several people, and a drone strike near the al-Iqlimi junction in Khan Younis's al-Mawasi area wounded others, including children.

🔸 Israeli tanks fired heavily toward displacement tents in Rafah's al-Mawasi and southern Khan Younis, shelled eastern Khan Younis, and fired on the Hamad City area and the al-Salateen and al-Atatra areas west of Beit Lahia.

The attacks continue despite the ceasefire in effect since October 2025 and President Trump's July 31 announcement of a "new agreement" to begin the second phase of the Gaza "roadmap." Almost all of Gaza's population still lives in tents, shelters, and damaged buildings, with reconstruction blocked.

The Guardian reports FM Araghchi is waiting in the US over the weekend for Washington’s response to Iran’s 7-day proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The FM said China is fully on-board and reporting suggests Saudi Arabia could likely endorse the plan as well. The kingdom was already set to approve the new Iran-Omani Strait of Hormuz routes and agreement earlier this month before new attacks from Yemen contributed to Saudi Arabia pulling out of the planned conference.

The Guardian also said Araghchi told reporters Iran’s 7 preconditions were not new, and were included in the Islamabad memorandum of understanding (MOU) that was previously signed by Trump.

Pezeshkian met with American journalists and think tankers tonight. The message he is delivering is consistent with what Tehran has been signaling for some time, from the SNSC to senior IRGC figures close to the Supreme Leader.

Iran wants a deal based on the June MOU, but with US concessions implemented upfront before Tehran eases pressure on Hormuz. And if Washington refuses, it is signaling readiness for significant further escalation.

There are disputes in Tehran over tactics and how to engage Washington, but little sign of a serious factional divide over this core position. On that, the message has been remarkably consistent.

Israel burned a human being twice today.

Believe it or not:

At noon today, local time, Israel bombed a car in Deir al-Balah, instantly killing Jabr Muqbil and leaving his body charred.

Three hours later, at 3:23 p.m., as Jabr’s family was transporting his body to Gaza City, where they are from, to bury him, Israel struck the vehicle again in the Sheikh Ajleen neighborhood.

At least 15 people, including some of Jabr’s relatives, were critically injured. Jabr’s body was completely burned again in the second strike.

The first photo shows the second strike. The second photo shows the first strike that killed Jabr, with his charred body circled.

In the comments i’m putting a video of the second car while it’s burning.

⭕️ Two Israeli reservists were killed when a drone they were operating crashed and exploded inside their own military outpost in northern Gaza, the Israeli army said Friday.

Maj. (Res.) Nadav Kali, 24, and Maj. (Res.) Ofek Moalem, 23, both of the 16th Brigade, were evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, where they were pronounced dead, 99th Division commander Brig.-Gen. Elad Tzuri said. The pair had completed one operation successfully before the drone crashed during a second. No soldiers were hurt in the initial crash.

The army said it is investigating how the explosive detonated as the two approached the downed drone, and whether Hamas interfered electronically, though it believes Hamas lacks that capability. Israel declined to say whether it was a suicide drone or one designed to drop munitions, and has grounded attack and munition-dropping drones pending the probe.

Of 472 Israeli soldiers killed during ground operations in Gaza, 80 died by friendly fire or in accidents, according to army data.

🇪🇹 Fighting erupted in Northern Ethiopia between Tigray forces and government forces Thursday morning.

The Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), the rebel faction central to the 2020-2022 Ethiopian conflict, has announced that fighting has resumed in the country's northern region following an offensive from the Ethiopian army.

In an interview earlier today, TPLF Vice President Amanuel Assefa said, "Fighting between our forces and the Ethiopian army started yesterday and is still going on. We are in a full blown war.”

Regional authorities stated that TPLF initiated a major assault in the Afar and Amhara regions. Local media and officials confirmed fighting across Tigray, Amhara, and Afar, prompting Ethiopian Airlines to suspend flights to key northern destinations due to security concerns.

The African Union and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged both sides to de-escalate immediately and honor the 2022 Pretoria Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.

This escalation follows the TPLF seizing an airport in Mekelle and forming a new political-military alliance with other opposition groups against Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government.

The original two-year conflict in Tigray resulted in widespread devastation and displacement before concluding with the 2022 peace accord, which left several territorial and disarmament disputes unresolved.

🇸🇩 The State Department declared this week that neither of Sudan's warring factions is fit to govern, a move veteran US-Africa analyst Cameron Hudson says has left Washington diplomatically stranded, Semafor reports.

🔸The former White House official said Washington has been "ratcheting up pressure very steadily on the army with the assumption that it could get the pressure high and severe enough that the army would relent and sign a deal."

🔸Those measures include sanctions over alleged chemical weapons use, a push to extend the UN arms embargo beyond Darfur to all of Sudan, and restricting SAF leader Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan's visa ahead of the UN General Assembly unless he agrees to a 90-day ceasefire.

🔸The RSF has signaled it would accept a ceasefire. The SAF, which has gained ground, has rejected one. After the US announcement, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Türkiye issued a joint statement backing Sudan's "legitimate national institutions" and rejecting "parallel entities” — not so subtly backing the SAF.

🔸"What this episode demonstrates is how isolated the United States has made itself," Hudson said. The US is "moving in a very different direction from the rest of the countries that are engaging in diplomacy on Sudan."Cameron Hudson

repeated the same false claim as the one made by PM Netanyahu at the U.N. on Thursday, while interviewing Michigan's Abdul El-Sayed on Tuesday.

Israel does not "provide" vaccines or food to Gaza. The UN, WHO, UNICEF and aid groups purchase and deliver them. But Israel controls the crossings and therefore decides what gets through, by constantly restricting, delaying, and denying life essential aid far below what Gaza needs.

This, despite the ICJ ordering Israel in 2024 to allow unimpeded humanitarian access.Nour Odeh 🇵🇸🍉 #FreePalestine

What genocidal regime enables the distribution of 2 million tons of food into Gaza? That's a ton for every person.

Accusing Israel of genocide is the greatest lie of the century.

🇵🇰🇦🇫 Pakistan’s air force struck 10 locations in Afghanistan Thursday that it said were being used to launch and store drones, some used against Pakistan a day earlier, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced on X.

Tarar added that “any further provocative act by Afghan Taliban will be responded [to] with firm and resolute response.”

Afghanistan’s Taliban government said the strikes killed four civilians. An Afghan spokesperson, who denied that Taliban launched drones against Pakistan, said the strikes hit Kandahar, Paktia, and Khost provinces and warned of “adverse consequences for the Pakistani military.”

The escalation follows an attack on a police facility in northwestern Pakistan last week that killed at least 24 people, reigniting fighting between the two countries after roughly three months of relative calm.

Update-Ghazab lil Haq

Islamabad, 24 September 2026;

Pakistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the deliberate and unlawful incursion into Pakistan by drones on 23 September 2026, launched from Afghan territory. This constitutes a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and is a grave and unacceptable act of aggression.

For years, Pakistan has repeatedly conveyed its grave concerns to the Afghan Taliban regime and its interlocutors regarding the continued presence of terrorist sanctuaries and their support networks on Afghan soil. Instead of dismantling these networks and taking credible and verifiable action against those using Afghan territory to perpetrate terrorism against Pakistan, the Afghan Taliban regime has chosen to escalate the situation through hostile drone operations against Pakistan. Pakistan’s Air Defence systems detected, tracked and neutralised all intruding platforms before they could reach any of their intended targets, comprehensively thwarting the attempted attack. In exercise of its sovereign right to self-defence, Pakistan conducted precision aerial and drone strikes against 10 locations in Afghanistan used for launching and storing these drones. The strikes were deliberate, precise, calibrated and proportionate and strictly limited to identified military objectives directly linked to the attempted attacks against Pakistan.

Pakistan will neither accept nor tolerate attacks launched from Afghan territory, whether by terrorist groups or by the Afghan Taliban regime itself. Any violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty will be met with an immediate and decisive response. Threats, denials or attempts to deflect responsibility by Afghan Taliban will neither alter the facts nor constrain Pakistan’s inherent right to defend its territory, its people and its national security.

Pakistan calls upon the Afghan Taliban regime to immediately cease all hostile activity against Pakistan and fulfil its international obligations by taking effective, concrete, verifiable and sustained action against terrorist entities operating from Afghan soil. Afghan territory must not be used to launch attacks or conduct hostile operations against Pakistan. Pakistan does not seek escalation and remains committed to regional peace, dialogue and constructive engagement. This commitment must not be mistaken for weakness or an unlimited tolerance of hostile actions. Pakistan will defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the lives of its citizens with full resolve and will take all necessary measures to protect them. Any further provocative act by Afghan Taliban will be responded with firm and resolute response.
