Love how right off the bat this NYer reporter frames this as a both sides thing instead of Republicans having aggressively gerrymandered their districts for almost 20 yrs now & Dems finally deciding they werent going to politely stand by without answering while they tried to destroy democracy

Politico ran a poll where majorities of voters, including a lot of Republicans, are skeptical Trump could do any last minute to change the race Majorities say if Trump ended the war, he brought gas down by $1, created 100k jobs they still wouldnt vote Republican. Simply people want to punish R’s

Remarkable: As of now, Latino early vote is outpacing where it was at same time in 2024 in both percentages of vote share and in RAW VOTE TOTALS. That's big. Presidential turnout is usually higher than midterms. I obtained new analysis from Dem firm TargetSmart: newrepublic.com/article/2164...

Are Senate polls understating Republican support? Are Democrats really surging in KS/AR/SD? I show evidence that they are actually closely tracking Trump approval, including in red states. Thanks to @gelliottmorris.com data for hard baseline: samwang.substack.com/p/despondent...

ok, but again, the *overwhelming* majority of experts on the middle east, lawyers, academics, scholars, etc agree that the the Israeli actions are genocidal. This is not a minority view or even a fringe leftist one, and saying that people who believe it are silo'd is not true.

my point is broadly that this has to be done by extraordinary coercion just short of war, not though any normal diplomatic means. because the genocide of Palestinians is more or less uniformly popular with the Israeli public, that public has to be immiserated.

i think that the current national security minister of Israel publicly celebrated his assassination, the current Prime Minister was widely blamed for causing it, and that fascist monsters so thoroughly won the hearts of the Israeli public that Labour no longer exists and its successor holds 4 seats.

I think a lot of people compare Florida and Texas, because they feel similar electorally, but under the hood, that isn't the case. On the left is the age splits of the state, and as you can see, FL is much older than TX on average. On the right is the ethnicity split, and TX is more diverse.

“No they really believe it” is a way better heuristic for understanding political actors than “they are on the take” 9 times out of 10. Sometimes beliefs are downstream of materialism and political economy. But these relationships are more complicated than “bribes”

The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
The lone woman on Tennessee's death row was still alive after she was administered two lethal injections, her lawyer said in a motion seeking to halt her execution Wednesday night, a stunning development after the Supreme Court had stepped in to allow the state to put her to death.
At 8:26 p.m. local time, witnesses said
"executioners had injected both syringes of lethal injection chemicals and Pike is still alive and snoring," her lawyers said in a federal court filing.
They said Pike "has not lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat," and that curtains to the death chamber "have gone down twice."
