Tabasco Diamond Reserve (2018-2018): A special edition, incredibly small-batch hot sauce, released to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Tabasco brand. It came in a champagne-style bottle with gold foil and a fancy gold box, retailing for $35 for a 6oz bottle. What made this sauce so unique? A 🧵

This is one of the best things I've read in a while about the psychology of car supremacy, and how those of us who even *question* it are viewed as heretics. Thanks to @pflax1.bsky.social for sending this my way.

fired up about this again. whyyyy are we allowing clothing manufacturers to list any fiber before the word "blend" instead of the one that makes up the majority of the fabric? a 98% poly, 2% cotton shirt should not be called a "cotton blend"

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a blue poison dart frog is posing confidently for two of his frog friends, who are both brown. One friend says, “whoa, dude!” And the other remarks, “nice paint job!” Panel 2: the blue frog, striking another pose, replies, “thanks. It’s designed to keep predators away.” Panel 3: a heron - without giving it a second thought - tosses the blue frog into its mouth and thinks to itself, “nice, blue flavor!” The two other frogs can only watch and scream in horror.

Meta and X, every other thing is an ad. Pinterest is nothing but ads. AI is in everything. AI finishes sentences incorrectly and won’t stop. Comic panel of Donald Duck and a wide-eyed young Mickey Mouse. Donald's speech bubble: "Democrats should do a huge middle class tax cut to address affordability." Mickey's speech bubble: "Fool that you are, for you treat taxation as a burden rather than the means by which our burdens are eased. Behold a civilization rich in private wealth yet starved of public provision, where every man owns what his grandfathers could not imagine and yet trembles at the thought of how he will weather an illness or loss of livelihood. Will you fight for an affirmative vision of broad contribution and universal benefit? Or will you perish like a dog?"

Really like old photos Spanish Harlem for summer style inspiration. Lightweight tailoring, open shirts, camp collars, one-piece collars, high waisted pants, etc. If you go into certain immigrant communities in the US, you'll still see older men dress this way. I like the look.
A photo of a group of men sitting down at a table outside to play a game of dominos. Some of the men are wearing suits and ties; other men are wearing high-waisted trousers with open collar shirts. Many are wearing traditional felted and straw hats. A group of young boys standing outside. They are wearing striped t-shirts, lightweight jackets, retro-knits, and dark pants.A young man sitting outside while wearing a camp collar, short sleeve shirt and dark pants. if you read nothing else from rodger sherman in your entire life please read these paragraphs from the end of his newsletter, possibly the most important paragraphs anyone has ever written about Team USA
Throughout these Olympics, people asked me why I was cheering for Team USA at this bleak moment in American history. I get it! Our government is a nightmare, causing endless harm internationally and at home. Abroad, they’re picking needless fights with our closest allies — remember what I said about Donald Trump reposting AI-generated videos of himself punching imaginary Canadians in the face? And domestically, they’re building camps for immigrants, and sending masked goons to brutalize and occasionally murder our neighbors in our streets.

So yeah. It felt weird being patriotic during these Olympics. Many Team USA athletes said so themselves.

But America is so much bigger than Donald Trump and his evil government.

The flag that flies when an American athlete wins a gold medal isn’t Donald Trump’s flag. It’s ours. The anthem that plays isn’t Donald Trump’s song. It’s ours. If we refuse to celebrate what’s great about our country because of the people trying to ruin it, they’ve already succeeded.

There’s a reason Trump and his administration didn’t celebrate most of Team USA’s wins. (Except the men’s hockey team. I wonder why...) The bigots in charge of our country like to claim that our diversity makes us weaker. Every two years, Team USA proves otherwise at the Olympics. Americans of every race, every background, and every orientation show that they can work together to become the best in the world.

This year’s Team USA featured all sorts of Americans this administration hates. While this administration tries to demonize immigrants and forcibly remove them from our country, nearly one-fifth of Team USA were immigrants or the children of immigrants, like naturalized citizen Kaillie Humphries and first-generation American Alysa Liu. While this administration cracks down on LGBTQ+ rights, Team USA had Hilary Knight getting engaged to Brittany Bowe before winning a gold medal. While this administration tries to reimagine America as a white ethnostate, Team USA had Black gold medalists like Elana Meyers Taylor and Laila Edwards. I could keep going.

Watching Team USA have their best Winter Olympics ever was a much-needed reminder of all the reasons we can’t give up on this whole America thing. The Trump administration is the worst of us. Team USA is the best of us. Why on earth would we let the worst thing about our country dampen our love for the best things about our country?

This is a heartbreaking failure in the WA LEG. It would have made it easier for those harmed by negligent drivers to seek a remedy. It passed the House just HOURS after Lili Moreno was killed by a driver in Capitol Hill. Too often, our laws protect dangerous drivers more than the people they kill.
