A society where someone is adult enough to join the army at 16 yet too much of a child at 16 to use social media is one with a governing class that has lost touch with reality

I don’t think anything sums up how ridiculous the new EHRC guidance is than the fact it describes those protected by the characteristic of gender reassignment to be those undergoing a process to “reassign their sex”, a thing the exact same part of the document says isn’t legally possible. Nonsense.
Gender reassignment
2.36 The Act defines gender reassignment as a protected characteristic (section 7, paragraph 1). People who are proposing to undergo, are undergoing or have undergone a process (or part of a process) to reassign their sex by changing physiological or other attributes of sex have the protected characteristic of gender reassignment.Gender Recognition Certificates (GRC)
2.49 The Supreme Court in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers (For Women Scotland) [2025] UKSC 16 has ruled that a GRC does not change a person's legal sex for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010. The judgment held that 'sex', ‘woman' and 'man' mean, respectively, biological sex, biological
woman and biological man for the purposes of the Equality Act. The judgment uses the expression 'biological sex' to describe the sex of a person at birth.
The phrase 'biological sex' has the same meaning when used throughout this
Code. This is also referred to as 'sex at birth' in this Code.

Fundamentally, the structure the Supreme Court has built is that we have a whole act prescribing how you change gender (GRA2004) and a protected characteristic of changed gender (EA2010) which combine to provide no legal protection for having changed your gender.

The Labour Party is institutionally transphobic, it is an outright enemy of the UK's LGBT community, and none of us should even consider giving it our vote for a second so long as that remains the case.

The temptation for countries and companies to do this will only increase. Unappreciated I think is the possibility that the purpose of the US blockade is as much to remove Iranian oil from temptation to 3rd countries as it is to harm Iran itself.

From a friend in Beirut this morning, who in the last few days has seen several Israel missile strikes within walking distance of their home.
it just feels so horrible
we feel powerless
we've tried fighting,
we've tried surrendering
we've tried ignoring
we've tried building
israel doesn't let you exist
that's it, our choice is fast death

Again, transphobia is invariably just base-level crude revulsion. There's nothing more to it, and the pretenses otherwise are disingenuously back-constructed from a desired conclusion.

fromarsetoelbow.blogspot.com/2026/02/afte... Pretty good piece this
An excerpt of the quoted article reads: What this points to, and which McTague at least seems to get, is that the Labour Party has run out of road. It no longer has a purpose, not just as the political wing of organised labour but as the electoral vehicle of social democracy. The shibboleths about equality and opportunity run up against the harsh realities of the Thatcher dispensation: embedded inequality, a fear of offending the rich, a hollowed-out economy dependent on the kindness of strangers. The social and cultural ambitions of the party, from decent housing and reliable welfare to non-utilitarian education and collective arts, have long since shrivelled to practically nothing. The interrogation and reform of the state has given way to the punitive inspection of the populace. The monarchy and the House of Lords stumble on while we are told we can no longer afford benefits for the sick and elderly. The NHS is bleeding to death and once it has gone Labour will have lost the last vestige of its commitment to the welfare state. A revived commitment to the warfare state, as promoted by the likes of Paul Mason.

the Palestine Action ban really was a classic Starmer govt move: a hysterical overreaction that won them zero plaudits from the right, cost them badly to the left, and which got shot down in the end anyway.

Home secretary 'disappointed' by ruling, plans to appeal

Home secretary Shabana Mahmood said she was 'disappointed' by the ruling and that she plans to appeal it.

In a statement, she said:

■■ I am disappointed by the court's decision and disagree with the notion that banning this terrorist organisation is disproportionate.

"The proscription of Palestine Action followed a rigorous and evidence-based decision-making process, endorsed by parliament. The proscription does not prevent peaceful protest in support of the Palestinian cause, another point on which the court agrees.

“As a former lord chancellor, I have the deepest respect for our judiciary. Home secretaries must however retain the ability to take action to protect our national security and keep the public safe. I intend to fight this judgment in the court of appeal."

Reading the Palestine Action judgment. This, from Yvette Cooper's statement explaining why PA were to be proscribed, is surprisingly revealing. She says that PA are being proscribed (a) to make them easier to prosecute (b) ...at least in part for non-terrorist actions 1/n

For clarity, and for those not grasping how obscenely overblown the scenario, or the extent of the misrepresentation. Counting only written complaints, the NHS in England alone received 256,777 in 2024-25. 4.5 complaints per 1000 people. Tavistock trans services received 0.06 per 1000 patients.
