"I don't support [turning a parking lot into] a park downtown. A huge part of the fabric of downtown is the beautiful tree-lined surface lots that offer convenient, accessible parking. Parking garages (on the inside) are always ugly, claustrophobic, hard to park, have safety and accessibility issues, and destroy the character of the downtown. There's a reason why I no longer go to Downtown Mountain View unless I have to. Parking there is a nightmare compared to Downtown Los Altos."
