Léopold-Franz Kowalski's picture reminds me that there is a long history of artists featuring newspapers in their work. A favourite coffee table book is 'The Newspaper in Art,' which features scores of examples of people shown reading papers in paintings.

Why we don't stock certain books... An example is this book. The retail price is £22.00 but you can buy a copy in Tesco for £11. We can't blame you for doing that. The price to us from the publisher would be £12.10 as they discriminate against small shops on discount.

I am so damn close to cancelling my licence fee. So damn close. As a journalist of 35 years standing, I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d feel like this. The BBC has come to disgust me. It’s damaging our country and I can’t assist it in the damage it’s doing with my money.

So, just to be clear, Daniel Thomas was: 1- Carrying a knife contrary to section 139 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 2- Used that knife to commit criminal damage (Criminal Damage act 1971) 3- likely engaged in the criminal offense of endangering Life at Sea (Merchant Shipping Act 1995)
