Went to the #TishMurtha exhibition at @balticgateshead.bsky.social today. Important and brutally honest social commentary of 1980s Newcastle at a time of searing social change. Painfully enlightening even for those of us who lived through it.

A large paved area in front of the Baltic Contemporary Art Centre - a tall glass and yellow brick building on the quayside in Gateshead. The building entrance is under an elongated canopy where there's also a cafe and terrace. Long banners hang either side of the central glass section advertising the current exhibition

Our sanctuary from the heat today - the crypt of Winchester Cathedral (which was still flooded a few weeks ago) with Antony Gormley's deeply moving Sound II Water rises through the figure's body into his hands. Gorgeous. #ArtMatters #Art #ECK
