I've been playing with drawing reflections today. Monochrome is so my thing...but colour is enticing too.

Sometimes I just prefer the original on site drawing to the over done one made later. Still, learning is good and I'm enjoying mixing the umbers and siennas.

This book has just arrived from the library. Inspired by a recent and really impressive on line conversation between Zoulfa Katouh and A M Dassu I really wanted to read this book aimed at young readers. 📚📚📚

I've read very few graphic novels but I read this in one sitting after my sister leant it to me. Such a good story and exploration of friendship. The drawings are monoprints and are really really entrancing. Dear Historian by Joff Winterhart.

Ecliptical . These are the ellipse shaped reflections thrown onto a wall by the eclipsing sun shining through the gaps in the hedge. It moved and changed and was extremely beautiful to watch.

After some hot travelling I've returned to a cool house. All the blinds are drawn so this is as good as it gets for today's #DrawingAugust. Drawing followed by ice cream I think. Dry watercolour pencils and graphite on gouache wash.

Mmmm, here's a puzzle. Lots of my ripe pink gooseberries have been picked off the bush and the seeds eaten, leaving the flesh lying on the ground. Never happened before. Mice? Fruit was netted. # gooseberries #orchards 🌱🌱
