And despite the horrible death toll that's locked in by waves of climate shocks - presided over by the dying, fumbling "drink bleach" guy - it's conceivable that the future we get will be a *good* one, if not an easy one.

Never understood why drivers are not also charged with failing to drive or operate a vehicle in a careful and prudent manner (MVA s 100, 6 points) when they strike pedestrians on sidewalks or crosswalks novascotia.ca/sns/rmv/lice...

Yes!! I think this is part of a sinister goal, which is to paint EVs as luxury purchases. As long as embracing green tech is seen as something that only the elites do, it’s easier to push through environmentally-regressive policies— the detractors are just out of touch with regular folk.

One thing that might or might not be obvious is that making one block "pedestrian only" reduces car traffic over a much larger area. I'm staying in the same neighborhood where I lived a few years ago, and the decrease in motor vehicle traffic is astounding.

There are about 5500 BEVs in Nove Scotia. At $500/2 years, this levy will raise about $1.4M per year. That’s not quite enough to pave 3 km of road. Less than. 3. Kilometres. But hey, on the plus side, we get to put the brakes on EV adoption, and stick it to those smug electric car-driving nerds!

If you’re in a position of power, telling Canadians you still like them isn’t “standing with Canada”. Taking your supposed issues to your own country’s leadership and/or openly opposing their actions by making a public statement would be “standing with Canada”, but nobody’s doing that. /3
