The last few times Halifax was given free money with a deadline (bike lanes, transit, windsor exchange) we blew through the deadline without even starting, got extensions out to around 8 years, still didn't manage to *START* planning before the deadline, and lost the funding.

I generally really like the way the threading feature works in BlueSky. However, there's a beta feature you can turn on that makes it even better: baked-in thread counters. I turned it on in August and it's still really great Settings → Beta Features

From Facebook, Halifax Forum Community Association says Fillmore has asked Halifax Hawks board to help him change council’s decision on redevelopment of the Forum.

MEDIA RELEASE STATEMENT: From The Halifax Forum Community Association Sept. 16, 2026

Mayor Fillmore is at it again, behind closed doors.

Mayor Andy Fillmore has asked the Halifax Hawks Board of Directors to help him change Regional Council’s decision on redevelopment of the Halifax Forum. Mayor Fillmore has been advocating that the Forum land is too valuable to be used as community and recreation space. He wants the Forum land to be sold or leased to land developers. Council disagreed, and in March of this year voted to proceed with the Forum redevelopment. Construction on the new Forum is scheduled to begin next summer with the new facility opening in late 2030.

For their role, the Halifax Hawks have decided to abide by Mayor Fillmore’s wishes. They are planning to launch a media campaign to halt the redevelopment in the coming days with the goal of pressuring councilors who voted in favour of the Forum’s redevelopment.

“Councillors and residents of the municipality deserve transparency, not back room deals from the Mayor”, said Paul Card, Chair of the Halifax Forum Community Association.

I have received news of a perfectly named cafe located on the waterfront of Nova Scotia's capital, if you know what I mean
