I feel like I should earn bonus points for immediately recognizing the blatantly obvious point a few women have made on this site, that they then have to explain because they get piled on about that point. It's a stupid feeling, but I have it nonetheless.

Today was the third time this week I had to reroute my walking path to avoid being choked by debris from an obnoxious leaf blower. I’ve had a vendetta against these things since they first came out, but the problem appears to be getting worse. What’s wrong with using a rake or a broom?

If you look at tourism cities/states, there's an increase in bankruptcy/foreclosures. For example, Las Vegas, Florida, and South Carolina. More than a year ago, I said this would result in billions being siphoned out of the economy, plus international students going elsewhere. #bankruptcyblog

23,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 joules. That’s the amount of heat the oceans absorbed in 2025. A number so huge it’s almost meaningless…until you realise it’s roughly 40× humanity’s annual energy use. The ocean is buying us time. We’re running out of it. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Q: How do we get people/the system to start viewing bikes as functional tools? A: I think it's iterative and partly cultural. As more people bike and more people know someone who gets around by bike, it gets easier to view that as something that's normal. Driving used to play a similar role!

A warning for all who are canning pickles or anything using vinegar. You cannot just grab a plastic jar of vinegar w/o checking the label. Safe pickling requires 5% acidity....we are seeing 4% acidity vinegar on the shelves. That renders anything pickled in the 4% NOT shelf stable.

Random thought that occurred to me late last night as I was between sleep cycles... I wondered at the benefit of deploying CDN troops to Ukraine to learn first hand how to fight in modern drone warfare. Since we sent troops over to train them in "classic" warfare when hostilities broke out.
