It’s all just rather a lot lately. Tell me to post some nice pictures if I’m getting boring.

This article is a scary glimpse into how openly and publicly hateful the average British person is becoming. Bigotry has been allowed to metastasize from the top down and the bottom up. When you allow the demonization of migrants and trans people, you grant permission for people to act like demons.

The UK car industry was protected from Chinese imports for decades, by virtue of the latter not existing. If that wasn't protection enough, nor will tariffs be. This is an attack on consumers in the name of the politics of Cher: "if I could turn back time." labourlist.org/2026/10/put-...

'It's time to put tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles' - LabourList
Backing British automotive and supply chains and introducing tariffs on Chinese EVs would be the clearest sign yet that his government is delivering that ambition.

Despite the Prosecuter responsible for bringing looters to court in Paris saying none of the arrested have links to the left and despite Mediapart exposing a concerted campaign by government leaders to impose this reading on police and intelligence services, we still see the claim repeated in media.

"It's just supply and demand" they say. That would be true except the fossil fuel industry creates it own demand - by using its money and political power to stymie competitors, to create new markets for itself, to ensure that it receives favourable regulatory and tax treatment, to go to war for it.

I mean, I’ve got plenty of time for low effort engagement about how MPs with idiot causes fuck things up: I’m in a very lengthy passport queue right now. (For emphasis, this is a minor inconvenience, unlike Tonia Antoniazzi’s campaign to deny trans people all their legal rights)

That is very clearly a hospital ban and if Labour MPs lack the seriousness to understand the consequences of their hate, that’s their problem. And ours. But it’s not our moral failing.

Did we all just quietly know that many Student Unions across the UK now operate food banks for students, because the wonderful people we teach are so strapped amidst the intense fee and rent extraction that they are in food poverty? How is this not more of a scandal?

Ah yes, perhaps the most beloved literary trope of all: the classic McMuffin
A screenshot that reads: Moore throws in a Hitchcock-style McMuffin in the shape of a secret tape recording which will reveal just who has been betraying the gangsters.
The problem is that no-one has a machine on which to play it.
