Over on VoynichNinja (an excellent discussion board with lots of solid linguistic & cryptological work), someone posted this new resource based on my (credited!) work that lets you visualize structure & rearrange quires, bifolia, and pages! It's incredibly cool and really valuable. voynichviewer.com

So, r/Glasgow has a lot of far-right posters but the latest lot got chased out after users noticed they were referencing use of Imgur (famously blocked in the UK). Reminds me of Old Twitter when a Concerned Citizen of Birmingham didn't know the city is colloquially called Brum.

Ooh, today's random album is by The The. Don't mind if I do. I've had a run of middling 1960s records and a swathe of annoying nu-metal. Time to make a cuppa and pretend I'm in my local hipster-muso pub.

You can also reject the culture of compulsory confession that online culture has worsened. You don't have to publicly reveal past trauma or experiences to speak. Finally, take care of yourself if you're a survivor.

Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

The most terrifying ad I've seen in a very long time. Gross on every level.
Text: "AI can make any of your imaginations come true - only need two photos"

Photos: one of a woman in a ridiculous get-up attempting to look business-appropriate except it's a mini-skirt and you can see her black bra.

One of a middle-aged man in a far too tight pink polo shirt.

And then there's the AI generated video of the man making out with the woman on an office desk. And prompts saying "LONGER! WITH TONGUES!"

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, holding a red ball labeled "A SILLY MEME".
The second panel shows Sarah taking the ball and going through a door labeled "GROUP CHAT".
The third panel shows a group of women sitting together and consoling one woman in the center. The woman in the center is saying "...And that's how it happened. It's been the worst day of my life."
The fourth panel shows Sarah standing in the doorway behind them awkwardly holding the red ball.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

Excellent thread! There *are* rewards for being A Good Guy Who Speaks Up even if they are not immediately obvious or publicly bestowed. First, integrity is its own reward. Maybe you didn’t save the world or change hearts & minds. But if you held the line on not making it worse, that’s something.
