Across the Causeway. Original handmade artwork. An unpublished Illustration made for The Woman in Black written by Susan Hill. Image size: A4 £130 Email Nick at: nicktankardart@gmail.com
A black pen in a crosshatch technique and black block printing ink applied with a roller illustration on off white paper. Areas of dark and light and grey to describe a damp and gloomy landscape of a causeway across an estuary. Two people sit on a wooden cart with two large wooden wheels, the cart is pulled by an old horse. The track is wet and pitted with muddy cart tracks and seaweed. They make their way towards a large Victorian house which is situated on a small island at the end of the causeway. The house looks dark and forbidding, it’s not inviting like say…Centreparks, I don’t think it has a fun water slide out the back. Rays of sunlight illuminates the roof of the house and reflect on the damp track, the sky is heavy with chunky clouds.

Wherever you are on the political spectrum (I would say I'm somewhere on the left) this is an important read. I'm absolutely shocked to find out what blood libel means. This kind of thinking, and the rest of us ignorant or turning a blind eye, leads down a very dark path.

When I said something about a good detective being "miss marple on steroids" my friend coined the phrase muscle marple. So I had to draw her.
An illustration in the style of a promo poster, in black line drawing. The text reads: Forget HOT POIROT....meet.... MUSCLE MARPLE!

The illustration shows an old lady in a flowery hat with HUGE GUNS.

Francis Barber – Britain’s first known Black schoolteacher honoured with London plaque
The plaque marks the remarkable life of a man brought to England as an enslaved child who later became probably Britain’s first Black schoolteacher.

Grateful for any recommendations for harnesses, collars or anything else for this little Houdini dog. Shares welcome. He tends to run straight home but he doesn't have much road sense and we live in London.

Rubiks keeps slipping out of his collar when we walk him. He's developed a technique and I can't tighten it any more. Does anyone have any advice about non slip collars or anything else that would work? He doesn't like his harness but maybe there is one that is super comfortable?
Deceptively innocent looking small dog

11 September and solar is still powering 4x what we're using right now. Obviously won't hold up for long, but if you're thinking about getting solar panels, now is a decent time (Installers tend to be quieter at this time of year so it can probably get sorted much quicker than during the summer 🌞)

The RNLI’s online shop has some great options for Christmas gifts. I got my mum a welly boot planter and I bought myself a rad tshirt with their original appeal artwork. But there’s loads of stuff that doesn’t say RNLI, so you can support them via your obligatory gift to Racist Uncle Mike too.

It might just look like a private dining shed at Harbour Lights, Walton-on-the-Naze. But it is now Deep Throat's car park. The grassy knoll. A Clacton landmark to rival the pier (snapped this last week over oysters and a delightful cold seafood platter!) 😂🦪
Selfie taken by Sarah with her brother in law and her sister, who is conveniently ducking so we can see the dining shed in the background, seen of a July lunch for Farage and some under cover reporters posing as illegal donors.

A shitty drawing of a cat and a mouse. They are in love.

Above them, the text reads:

TOXOPLASMOSIS:
MAYBE IT’S LOVE.
MAYBE I’VE BEEN SENT MAD BY THE PARASITE I PICKED UP WHILST EATING YOUR FAECES.
EITHER WAY, WHO CARES?

I'm finding some of the reaction to the UK government alert deeply shocking. People here are unprepared, in many ways, for wildfires. This could impact on their safety and also the safety of their local area. Cancelling your BBQ is the very least you can do. Being made aware of risk is a privilege.
