We talk a lot about the importance of voting but in doing so, we romanticize it, and I've come to believe that's a mistake. It's not romantic, it's not glorious, it's not an expression of your ideals or your identity. It's selecting the best outcome for the most people. That's all it is. Do that.

Society taken over by grown adults still bitter about college. I didn't get into my first choice! I was assigned a reading I didn't like! Something I said got criticism and dirty looks instead of praise! I'm still annoyed about that argument we had! That is now the basis of institutional policies.

I guess nobody remembers the Foxconn promises to Wisconsin. Or Elon Musk promises about... pretty much everything.
Musk hopes to use taxpayer dollars to offset some of the costs associated with building the largest single property in the world. The project has filed eight tax incentive applications with the two local school districts, asking to freeze school maintenance and operations property taxes at roughly 48% of appraised value for 10 years per phase. Terafab is asking the state to cover the difference of the maintenance and operations (M&0) and interest and sinking (I&S) taxes using the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation, or JETI, program.

Yes, Congress should be able to do these things. A court this contemptuous of Congress deserves to be packed by Congress, not only to correct these disastrous precedents but also because Congress needs to show both Article II and Article III who’s boss.
“On her view, Congress could commandeer the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Ser-vices, most (if not all) of the Department of Justice, and a number of other agencies besides. Indeed, if Slaughter were correct, then it is not clear why Congress would need to allow the President any say in firings at all”

Virginia Democrats going to the Supreme Court—the very institution responsible for putting Trump above the law and facilitating Republicans’ efforts to disenfranchise Black and other minority voters—was a great example of the classic line “it’s better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.”
