I'm so emotional that this story is out now, in the wonderful Tiny Gods issue of FFO. So many amazing stories, so many great authors. Read, cheer, share, subscribe. FFO is a wonderful place to lose yourself in, for a few minutes or many, many hours. I'm honored to join them on their journey ❤️

Very excited to have my midwest weird flash fiction story, "Lilting at Windmills" out with Hell Itself! "My childhood home is built from the skeleton of a windmill. Grandpa told me that windmills used to sing. Not with a human voice, but like a finger running around the rim of a glass."

Y'all, I want this. I want to blow our goals away. I want to see numbers that make it easy to do even better event next year. I want to see numbers that make Dream Foundry's executive director feel silly for worrying. Can we do that? I dunno. But there's my ask. flights-of-foundry.org/donate/
A teal background overwhich the Flights of Foundry logo is hovering in the middle. Gryphons are dancing all around it. Hoodini the barn owl gryphon at the top next to Toast the cockatiel gryphon. Barthlomew the harpy eagle gryphon and Swooperton the bald eagle grypon on the bottom. The word DONATE is in the middle.

I often write long things. It's not only my novel projects. I regularly have to wrestle my "short" story drafts into reasonable lengths. It's a process. It takes a while. Hence, I've developed ways to keep the writing buzz alive. Check out my piece on @milfordsff.bsky.social's blog for some ideas.

Quoting this again (yes, sorry) bcoz it's well put, but also, I want to be super clear. I want human-made art with all its flaws, and perfect imperfections, and asymmetries, and idiosyncrasies, and individualistic strangeness. Give me the real stuff made with sweat, tears, hope, and authenticity.

This thread describes so well the difference b/w people who love writing and people who just want to have written a book (somehow). Do I use AI to write my fiction? No. Why? Because I LOVE all aspects of writing, even the less savory bits. Why else do this hard job (often for far too little money)?
