China Miéville’s first solo novel in over a decade is part Lovecraft, part le Carré—and quintessentially weird.

The End of Everything by M. John Harrison  reviewed by Ryan Elliott Link ⬇️ strangehorizons.com/wordpress/no...
cover of The End of Everything by M. John Harrison featuring a melting title revealing a watery landscape with small island like formations within it.

Quote
It may be the most technically incredible work to date from a writer whose oeuvre is rightly held up as an exemplar of craft and yet, its rigour takes nothing away from but only reinforces the emotional core of the story and how viscerally its images and ideas haunt.

A half-formed take: Yes, you can write a story with AI now. But I don’t want to read it, not your story anyway. If I want an AI story I’ll have it write one that’s more for me. When I read a book it’s because it’s new, and I couldn’t have created it. AI books are for an audience of one.
